However, due to the failing of tribal alliances, they were forced to sign a peace treaty with the British. The British brought them blankets infested with small pox.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Battle of Trenton: Christmas 1776</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Battle of Trenton took place on Christmas to surprise the Hessian soldiers. Washington needed a victory to remind the soldiers why they were fighting and encourage them not to leave him with no army when their contracts were up. The plan worked and they ended up capturing 918 soldiers and killing 30. Even though this was a small victory it gave the soldiers major excitement and reassurance to stay fighting.</div>]]></description>

The victory showed the French they were able to win the fight causing the french to publicly side with the Americans by signing an alliance with the colonists. It was a key turning point battle because it gave us more hope we would win.</div>]]></description>
