Type a definition in your own words for #1.
2. Recall the video you watched recently and the information on pages 2-3 of your band book. Describe the correct way to do this in 2-3 sentences.
3. Describe how you have changed and improved your embouchure / grip since re-reading those book pages and viewing the video.
4. Describe how making these changes has affected the sound coming from your instrument. Is it easier to play now? Explain.

1. I play timpani, which is percussion. Grip is the proper way to hold a mallet for the best sound.
2. The video and book both instructed us to find the fulcrum, keep arms relaxed, and use mainly wrist motion.
3. Instead of waving my entire arm, I started keeping my arms by my sides and only using my wrists instead of elbows. I also put tape on the fulcrum of my drum sticks so that I place my hands correctly.
4. After making these changes, I noticed that it doesn't sound like loud caveman beating, and more like finessed drum playing! My teacher doesn't have to stop to tell us I am too loud anymore! Rolls and fast rhythms are easier to play now!

I was doing something similar to you! I was not thinking about the fulcrum when using my drumsticks. I was also waving my arms instead of my wrists. Just like you, once I stopped doing this I could play the really fast drum stuff a lot easier!
