Feraye Alanyali, 27 November 2017, Fredericton

Today when you woke up you saw snow, like everyone else but some of the exchange students saw the snow for the first time. In Canada snow in winter is so normal but if you live another country where it is warm, seeing snow would be really different and exiting. The exchange student’s will hear this too much: “Don’t be happy because after the winter you will hate snow.” Because we have lots of snow in Fredericton.

Today we didn’t get too much snow, only a bit. Soon we will have more. So snow activities have almost started. You should be prepared; take out your hats, gloves and scarfs.

Hala Bakhash, November 29, 2017
International students and new students in Canada were very excited for the first snowy day in Fradericton . Now they have butterflies in their stomachs waiting to see the snow when it will be a big storm. One student said, “ I like the snow very much and I hope to see the first big storm before I go back to my home country”. They are very excited because there are lots of countries that don’t have snow. It will be very exciting for them to play with snow balls and to build a snowman. Hope they enjoy the winter.

Fredericton, NB’
Only two more weeks of school to Christmas break. Everybody gotta be exalted for that. For some exchange student or people just moved to Canada, this might be their first ever Christmas. Because some country they don’t have Christmas. They are gonna have a lot of fun.
The break will start at December 22nd at noon. That day will just be a half day. The break will end at January 8th. So you got two and a half week of break. At this time there’s enough snow you can go skiing. There so much you can do with snow.

27.11.2017. Fredericton. Leon.
At the beginning of this week, it finally fell some snow after many cold nights. In Germany, we didn't have snow even in December, the last years. So it's pretty "cool" to have a little snow in November. I think, the weather in Canada varies a lot, on Tuesday it was freezing cold, but on Wednesday it's feeling so much warmee. "The only place where snow may fall is in the Alps", says the "Sueddeutsche Zeitung". So in the main land it will still take some time to get snow, if they get snow anyways.
In Germany, the public transport has big problems with snow, so some people hope that there won't be that much snow. But I'm looking forward to have much snow here in Canada.

Feraye Alanyali, NB, Fredericton

LHHS cafeteria’s food is better than most of the high school but the price is too much. If you want to buy a full lunch it costs 13$. Main meal (pizza, wrap and sandwich) is 5$. drinks change but the fruit juice is 3$, milk is 0.50$ but if you have a lactose intolerance you must pay 3$ for juice. Desserts is between 1.50-5$. If you bought 2 slices pizza, fruit juice and a good dessert you paid around 13$. It’s okay to pay just one day butif you buy your lunch everyday it cost 65$, per mounth is 260$! It’s really too much. Did you ever think about how much money you spend for lunch?

I think the cafeteria could change their prices a little bit. The main dinner price could 1 or 2$ off, depending on the food. Fruit juice for 1$ off and for the desserts 1 or 1.50$ off because the desserts size isn’t too big.

If you use your credi card to pay for your food they charge 0.25$ more. Maybe they could lower this and take 0.10$. It would be nice because most of the students use credi cards for paying their lunch, it is a much esayer way to pay.

Despite this, their cleaning and hygiene is really good so thank you for the cafeteria officials, they do their job very well.
\If you have another idea and you want to share please send me a message.

How to survive Canadien winter

Michael Yang
Dec 7th 2017
Lots of people that moved to Canada are so scared of the winter here. So I’m going to tell you a few tips to help you survive a canadien winter.
1. Buy the most expensive winter tires you could find. There is a law that you have to change your tires. But it doesn’t matter how good your car is, if you have cheap tires, than it still could be dangerous when you’re on the road. So get the expensive ones and you’ll be safe.
2. Wake up really early if you want Tim Hortons.
If you just moved here, you might not know how long the drive through is in Tim Hortons. There’s usually 20 to 30 cars waiting there in the morning. So if you want coffee that bad. Wake up early or make it at home.
3. Go to the gym and work out your arms
You’re going to do a lot of work outside in winter. Like shoveling snow off your drive way or having a snow ball fight with your family. I mean you gotta win those fight.
4. Be a hockey fan
If you want to make new friends in Canada. You have to like hockey so you guys have something to talk about. You don’t have to play hockey, but you have to know it. Maybe like the same team that your buddy like. Hockey is the most popular sport in Canada. So if you want to be liked in school, start watching hockey.
5. Don’t leave your sports gear in your car overnight
(This one is only for people that plays sports. So if you don’t, skip to the next one.)
You might not think is that bad to leave your gears in the car. But trust me, I learned my lesson from putting my hockey gear in the car. After every game your gear should be really wet because of the sweat. And after one night , it will be ice all over your sport gear .
6. Don’t travel much
In winter you want have less time as possible on the road. If you’re a travel person, save it for summer. Even if you have a good car and tires, it still can be dangerous on the road. And when it’s snowing out, stay home don’t go anywhere unless you really have to. After every time it snows, the road will be all clean up. But when it’s snowing and your driving, that’s where things could happen. So make sure you don’t drive around too much in winter

They are very friendly but sometimes you feel like there kind of annoyed because there are always exchange students in their school. When English is not your first language it’s hard to make new friends but if you are open to everybody and try to talk you will meet new people.

I think it’s a good thing to have so many cultures in one school. You can learn about other countries without traveling and you make contact all over the world.

Aidil Jan, December 18, 2017

Students at Leo Hayes are going to Homeroom for 20 minutes each Monday from now on. Leo Hayes High School made some changes in the school and the principle, Guidance, Teachers, and the Office people agreed to make this change that called extended Homeroom. Every Monday, students have to go to their Homeroom after period 2.

This is important because students might not have time to come to class or school and even late to give their homework so they made this Homeroom time to get students are late for class/school to catch up on their class.

For the past few years Leo Hayes High School had Homeroom every single day, the past few months Leo Hayes High School had an extended Homeroom every single Monday.

In conclusion people are more than happy to have an extended homeroom, especially when it's Monday. Also, students are always stressed when it comes to Monday and extended Homeroom somewhat makes their life easier.

Michael Yang
Dec 21 2016
Lots of people that moved here from different countries don’t know alot abort hockey. But hockey is the most popular sport in Canada. Watching hockey is so exciting, it’s a really fast sport. It is not a easy sport, you need to have the speed, power, and have to be smart. You need to make quick decisions in a high speed while 5 other guys on the other team are trying to kill you with a stick. Hockey requires team work and leadership, you are not gonna win if you try to do everything yourself. You need to always forgive yourself while playing. Because you are going to make mistakes on ice but it doesn’t matter anymore on your next shift. You can see now that hockey is not easy. But it is really fun to watch. So I think people should start caring abort hockey.
