I think it'd be important to talk about the state of language learning in MCPS and how to best encourage students to attain language fluency. I was in the Spanish Immersion Program and I don't think that going to Spanish 4 is the best afterwards because the skill gap between me and non-immersion peers is stark. If there could be alternate or any continuation of it at the high school would be great. Also more languages should be offered because not everyone will want to learn the same three language and a lot of people at Blair are enjoying ASL something not offered in Middle School.

One school topic I feel passionate about testifying on is transportation and bus efficiency. There are many overcrowded bus' that serve too many stops, leading to delays and long travel times. Additionally, there is often a lack of available buses, causing some students to walk long distances to their assigned stops.

Increased funding for school activities like sports. MCPS uses taxes to fund these activities, but I have personally had to contribute a few hundred dollars to pay for my sports team's activities. This sum may be a burden for some families.

Lack of school support for standardized tests (varies based on school; leads to some schools performing better on average and increasing chances of top college application performance)

The gap in standardized testing scores, upper county schools emphasize the importance of exams like the SAT for the college application process, ultimately producing better scores than lower county schools. Many lower county students don't understand the importance, placing less attention for it.

Post high-school preparations/resources. I think having suggested pathways and course selections based on what you want to major in if you plan to go to college would be a good resource for first gen students. There should also be more insight on paths you can take aside from going to college, since that may not be an option for some students (which is another problem).
