This week, you will be working in groups based upon your chosen disability. During each class, you will be given a set of criterion to follow to construct your own research and find resources to create a disability padlet. On Friday of this week, you will be teaching another group about your disability using the padlet you have created, which will lead into our second edition of the Who Am I? Demystification poster regarding Specific Learning Disabilities.

Tasks: Conduct your own research (I have given you a head start with the resource hub) on each of the subtopics for each day. As always, based on course policy, do not copy and paste. Quote, summarize, and paraphrase. For each subtopic, you will also be required to find two resources (videos, links, websites, pdfs, etc.) to assist and teach others. Provide a brief description for each of your resources as well.

Subtopics: In each subtopic, you will need the following:
- Defining, summarizing, quoting, or paraphrasing to give an understanding of each one.
- Two resources + an explanation of each one.

There are many ways that families can help an individual with Dyscalculia. A major way is trying to make math fun. Although it may be hard for the individual to learn math, if it becomes a fun task, then they won't be stressed out learning new terms, information, etc.
There are also a lot of problems that families encounter. The "simple" math could be the hardest for the individual with Dyscalculia. If one of the struggles is adding, multiplying, subtracting, or dividing, then the parent can focus on those, and implement a Low-Tech Assistive Technology device, the calculator.

There are many ways that families can help an individual with Dyscalculia. A major way is trying to make math fun. Although it may be hard for the individual to learn math, if it becomes a fun task, then they won't be stressed out learning new terms, information, etc.
There are also a lot of problems that families encounter. The
"simple" math could be the hardest for the individual with Dyscalculia.
If one of the struggles is adding, multiplying, subtracting, or dividing, then the parent can focus on those, and implement a Low-Tech Assistive Technology device, the calculator.

1 - To reinforce skills while practicing with your child who has Dyscalculia at home, you can use Positive Reinforcement. If the child is doing the work, and doing good, reward their correct answers, or even their hard efforts.
2 - Another way to reinforce skills at home is implementing math problems into everyday tasks. EX: If a child asks for Ice cream, have them count the scoops. EX2: If a child wants candy, give them a lot, and take some away so they can calculate how much they had versus how much they now have.
3 - Another way to reinforce skills at home is having your child play with games that involve calculations, or things they are learning in math. Candy land, Chutes and Ladders, Monopoly, etc are all games that kids can play that can increase their math skills.
