I said that he is caring because in the quote he says to Travis that he will get him anything he ask for. He told him that he could be anything he wants. He encourages him to do what he wants when he gets older. When he didn't get his way he would storm out and go drinking. He could have went out and tried to find a better job and or at least a second job. I sympathize with him because he was trying to help his family. I didn't like how he would only think about what he wanted and not what anyone else did. I also felt he acted childish when he stopped going to work because Mama didn't give him the money.
