Screencasting is a great tool for flipped learning. A teacher can capture anything on their screen and turn it into a video. A powerpoint with a voiceover and a camera image of self explaining would work great for home learning. Link it out of Google docs... Here is an example of a screencast explaining how to use a screencasting app called Screencastify

Apps such as Educreations or Showme allow the teacher to use a tablet the way they would use a white board. They can then record natural virtual lessons tailored to their kids' needs. Here is my teacher page on the Educreations website with all my lessons. Feel free to click on one and watch a few minutes of it

How can we take the concept of flipped learning and make it work in our school environment, when our population of students does not always have access to computers? (are there apps we can use reliably on phones/ipads/tablets) And how do we help students without access to anything (because there may not be many, but there are at least a few who do not have access to technology at home) feel included and supported in this type of learning environment? If we are intentional about it, we could use this to teach upcoming content therefore our mini lesson/direct teach time in math or reading would become less and the active learning time would be more

This method requires a lot of intention. You have to plan ahead, but it could also be the springboard for a "Individual Station Rotation". We could easily provide that "flipped instruction the week or days before in our "digital learning time". And offer an "Entrance Ticket" that let's us know right away who really understood, and who needs to be in a small group right away. I see lots of benefit to this model.

I absolutely loved exploring this site for flipped learning. Iḿ excited to see how this can be utilized within our classrooms. I strongly believe that this will help to build our classroom community, as well as serve for a good way to intro new content and form meaningful discussion from that. - AB
