Which of these Ten Commandments do you believe students violate most often?

I think that Commandment that students tend to violate most often would be number 8. Commandment 8 states that: "Thou shalt not appropriate other people's intellectual output." Issues of plagiarism and academic integrity have only become increasingly common in universities as technology has advanced. In fact, many students have likely appropriate the intellectual property of another without even realizing they've done so.

Why do you think these violations occur?

I believe these violations occur because modern and newly-emerging technological resources give you the ability to violate these commandments quite readily. Things like AI models or Wikipedia make it simple and somewhat tempting for individuals attempting to do research or write something through their intuitive use and fast access to relevant information. Its important to remember that information distributed through these sources is not vetted by any official body, but instead is a hodgepodge or gathering of sometimes vaguely relevant information that has the potential to be misguided or even outright false. Technology is also a rapidly-evolving field, making it difficult for institutions or official bodies to respond immediately.

What do you think could be done to reduce or eliminate such unethical behavior?

Its difficult to say. I believe that the systems in place now to detect such violations are sound, but not perfect. For example, the Internet has many 'holes' perse, in that your personal data and files are constantly at risk to cyber-threats at almost all times your using it. These intrusions can be avoided by teaching people how to use their computers and engage the cyberspace in a safe and proper manner. Other violations, like the appropriation of other individuals intellectual property or the copy or use of proprietary software or media without payment have safeguards in place. Plagiarisation can easily be detected by modern programs and technologies utilized by schools and universities. Illegal downloading or the illegal usage of programs without having purchased them is something that can be detected by your ISP or Internet Service Provider. They can in turn, if they choose to, give data on that intrusion to the relevant authorities or have discretion and issue you a warning. I think systems like these are suitable for their respective violations, but they will never be perfect in catching all violators.
