In Ghana the economy was doing well, one of the resources that was most exchanged was salt, copper, iron, ivory, other hard-to-find materials and gold. Although gold was an almost secret resource and it was limited. Ghana had a way of getting money that was very effective for them, they traded gold, ivory and slaves for salt from Arab people and horses, cloth, swords and books from North Africans and Europeans. As the salt in that place was worth its weight in gold, that made Ghana obtain most of the wealth through the trade of the Arabs, for having so much gold. And this was controlled more by the king.

Ghana Empire's Golden Age (brief explanation of achievements in Ghana, reasons to become a ruling empire)

The Ghana empire made some achievements that served them well, such as improving the superior iron technology with that, it helped the control of animals and the weaponry. They also did better with the production of resources, the use of cameos for better trading, that contributes to their strong agricultural base, etc. One of the reasons to rule an empire in Ghana is to have better resources, what I want to say is that having well-cared products allowed them to rule for a long time and have a strategy to rule in a good location. Also to have some people to trade, to have "confident".

In the 11th century the empire of Ghana began to decline, due to the rise of the Muslims. What happened was that a militant from the Ṣanhājah and other Amazigh groups from the Sahara joined in a holy war to be their neighbors. Ghana's rule by the Almoravids lasted only a couple of years. But this brought problems with the trade of the empire, that was what they depended on. That is why their agricultural lands burned in a disastrous process of desertification. Although the towns attached to that empire separated and in the year 1203 the Susu took the capital. And in the year 1240 the city was destroyed by the Mande Sundiata emperor and what the Ghana empire was joined the Mali empire.
