         <title>WPA Federal Art Project </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-For artists to be considered as part of the project, they had to apply for Home Relief to confirm that they were impoverished and then submit samples of their work to demonstrate they were actively creating art. Once approved, an artist's stipend was about $24 per week.<br>-Employed artists with a wide range of experience and styles, sponsored a more varied and experimental body of art, and had a far greater influence on subsequent American movements.<br>-Collectively created more than 100,000 paintings and murals and over 18,000 sculptures to be found in municipal buildings, schools, and hospitals in all of the 48 states.<br>-Art depicted shared values and American progress, including technological wonders, fertile farmlands, small town life, and big city vibrancy.&nbsp;<br>-Changed the role of the art in public life.<br>-Preferred a realistic style of art.<br>-Many of the faces of the workers depicted in these artworks are all the same --&gt; unity and generalization (could be you, could be anyone, it is all of us).</div>]]></description>
