         <description><![CDATA[<div>The students will have this activity after the story On the LaunchPad; the children will also have different images on the table of different types of rockets. On the table as well, the children will have all the different types of materials that they will need to build their rocket ship. We will have a wind tunnel in the classroom where the children will test out their rocket ship when they are done creating their model. If their model is unsuccessful, they will need to use their CT skill of debugging the errors and build their preserving skills.&nbsp;<br><br>On the table, the children will be able to choose from different materials such as;&nbsp;<br><br>Legos ( small and large)<br>wooden pieces ( small and large)<br>Nails&nbsp;<br>nuts and bots&nbsp;<br>screwdrivers&nbsp;<br>hammers&nbsp;<br>paper&nbsp;<br>cardstock&nbsp;<br>paper plates<br>hot glue guns&nbsp;<br>wheels ( small or large)<br>Pipe cleaners&nbsp;<br>Toilet Paper rolls and paper towel rolls.&nbsp;<br><br>The children will then need to make their own blueprint of what they want their rocketship to look like using their Evaluation skills and logic skills. To move to the process of building their own rocket ship.&nbsp;<br><br>After all the rocketships are ready it is time to test them in the Wind Tunnel, to see which will fly and which will need to go back to the tinker table.&nbsp;</div><div><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After reading the story " Windy Day."&nbsp;<br><br>The children will connect the knowledge they learned through the book and now explore with their sense in the real world, and for this activity, we will be going outside.&nbsp;<br><br>Activity #2 Let's Make A Kite and Fly It!&nbsp;<br><br>What You Will Need</div><ul><li>Paper bags – 1 per child</li><li>Hole punch</li><li>Glues</li><li>Tape</li><li>Lightweight string or yarn&nbsp; – two 3-foot lengths per child</li><li>Watercolor paint/crayons/markers (to decorate the kites)</li><li>Straws&nbsp;</li><li>forks/spoons&nbsp;</li><li>hot glue&nbsp;</li><li>cardstock&nbsp;</li><li>Paper&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div><div>What to do</div><ol><li>Discuss the things we see flying in the sky ( For those students who will need extra help or are ELL students, we will partner up with a peer who will be able to help them if they need help and (teacher) is unable to assist. We'll also have the table cards for the students where they can connect print to an image.&nbsp;</li><li>Encourage the children to think about the sky that allows things to fly (air and wind). ( This part is for the standard and for the children to build their confidence in those feedback loops where we can have those opened conversations.)&nbsp;</li><li>Let's start building.&nbsp;</li><li>Allow the student to be able to choose their materials from the table.&nbsp;</li><li>Help the children with a hot glue gun, (BUT DO NOT DO IT FOR THEM)&nbsp;</li><li>Encourage the children to use their CT to think about what kite shape will be best for flying.&nbsp;</li><li>When children are done, take the children outside to try flying their kites.</li><li>Upon returning to the classroom, discuss trying to fly the kites, ask the children what went well and what was not so successful. </li></ol><div><br>&nbsp;</div><div><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
