All members in your group will need to watch the videos. Imagine you are explaining a video that you found fascinating to a friend. What all would you want to tell them to get them interested? Summarize the video. Jot down any ideas you agree or disagree with and why. Note the most important facts of the video. Then, as you are reading Brave New World how do these ideas reflect Huxley’s? Include quotes with and explanation and a page number and the chapter you found it in.

This video described an experiment carried out by a psychologist named John Watson carried out an experiment on a nine month old baby in the year 1920. Watson introduced little baby Albert to a multitude of different objects and animals. Albert was not scared of these at all at first he was even curious. Then when watson reintroduced these things back to Albert he would bang on a sheet of metal with a hammer and scare Albert. When the objects and animals came out for a third time Albert immediately started crying. This is a very good example of classical conditioning. This might not be the best because it is teaching children with fear and causing them to be afraid of things.

In the Sheldon shaping penny video it shows that throughout the show Sheldon rewards penny for doings good things and gives her positive reinforcement he says that he could train certain behaviors out of her in a week.

Not everyone is against pageants that are for specifically children. If your little girl desires to go on stage to perform her hard work with singing, ballet, then puts on a cute princess dress to accept the tiara or crown that's fine. That being said, making your daughter wear a leotard with a cone bra, "strut her stuff" while wearing a tiny dress with heels or twerk on stage to some song then you're a bad parent that's selfish and irresponsible. It's down right disgusting, as if its the naked children from Brave New World but in real life.

Almost every single media form that has been studied provides decent examples of the sexualization of women, which include tv, music, movies, magazines, sports, video games, internet, and advertising. Some studies have looked into the
forms of media that are widely used with children, such as video games and teen-focused magazines. In study after study, findings have indicated that women are more often portrayed in a sexual manner and are objectified. Also, a small
standard of physical beauty is greatly emphasized. These are
just a few of the examples of femininity presented for young audiences to go off of, some of which need to be changed.

There was 68 teenagers who were in this study, but 2 went the entire 8 hours without negative thoughts or feelings. The two remaining teenagers were boys that would rather go outside and play a from of sports. One boy rode public transportation from one end of the city to the other for all 8 hours. The other children experienced critical panic attacks, and severe anxiety. A specific girl went into an anxiety induced seizure due to not being able to check her cellphone for any notifications. Basically, she displayed the similar symptoms of a hard drug addict going through withdrawal, which is awful.

The most clear example of classical conditioning in a Brave New World is in chapter two when the kids are going on a tour through the cloning facility. In the chapter little infants are subjected to “books and loud noises, flowers and electric shocks” and they say after “200 repititions of the same or similar lessons” the babies will have tendencies to stay away from those things for the rest of their lives (Chapter 2, page 34) This is almost an exact replica of John Watson’s experiment on little Albert but blown up for a large scale operation. I don’t agree with the ethicality of these practices and am glad they are not implemented in the real world today. These practices are also the opposite of the ones used in the Sheldon training penny video because instead of using fear to control people’s actions and thoughts he used positive reinforcement techniques to get his desired effect.
