Personal Appearance: Looking nice and staying clean is very important in Spanish culture. Both men and women regularly get their hair done and women normally dye it when it turns gray. Jewelry is also worn by almost everyone in Spain, and most girls get their ears pierced at birth. Dressing up to go out anywhere is the norm in Spain. Wearing gym clothes in public is seen as "distasteful," and no one wears shorts. Older men and women dress conservatively while younger men and women dress brighter. Even kids are as dressed up as possible.

Most weddings are Civil, as opposed to Catholic weddings in the past. Like in the U.S., there are bachelor and bachelorette parties, and the groom wears a tux while the bride wears a white dress. After weddings, there is normally a banquet that last until the early morning. At these banquets, there is a special dance, and the husband and wife cuts the cake with a sword which they keep to remember the day. Following the wedding, most couples go on an one week honeymoon.
Divorce: Spain has high divorce rates; 60%. Most of these divorces take place in urban areas with young couples, but there is no longer a stigma against marriage there.
