For my special sauce part pf this project I did a meeting with my former IEP case manager, we delved into the intricate dynamics surrounding students with learning disabilities, particularly concerning socioeconomic factors. She illuminated the challenges these students faced, emphasizing not only academic hurdles but also their educational journey's social and emotional aspects. This reflection led me back to some enlightening class videos, such as "High School Training Ground," where a poignant quote by London resonated deeply: "Homework is stressful, but when your home is work, you don't wanna pick up any assignments.".The discussion on effective support strategies shed light on the necessity of personalized plans tailored to each student, including accommodations like extended test times and assistive technologies. A compelling success story underscored the profound impact of such strategies, showcasing not only academic progress but also an enhancement in the student's self-confidence and independence. Transitioning beyond high school was a focal point, with her addressing the potential disparities in support systems as students navigate post-graduation pathways. Notably, the interview explored the intersectionality of socioeconomic factors and learning disabilities, acknowledging the inherent inequality in resources and access. She highlighted the need for ongoing advocacy and systemic changes to ensure that students from varying socioeconomic backgrounds receive equitable opportunities and support. Overall, the interview provided an understanding of the complex interplay between socioeconomic class and the experiences of students with learning disabilities, emphasizing the importance of tailored support systems and advocating for a more inclusive educational landscape.

As I stood on my graduation stage, cap and gown, clinging to the last moments of high school, memories of the struggle flooded my mind. Reflecting on the path that led me here, I wondered about others facing similar challenges. Without my IEP case holders' support and extra time on tests, my journey might have taken a different turn. This reflection fueled my choice of research topic. Graduation marked a triumph, yet a distinct challenge defined those four years. I was navigating the academic disparities because of my learning disability.

High school was more than classes and exams; it was a battleground where each day I felt both draining and humbling, with the classroom offering refuge not from subjects but from the fear of falling behind. Tailored support over four years meant countless hours in resource rooms, with lesson plans meeting my unique learning needs. It was a lifeline, a bridge connecting academia to my specific challenges. But as I tossed my graduation cap, a question lingered: What happens next? As the tassel swung, I moved beyond high school's cocoon, and reality hit. The safety net of accommodations began to fray, and challenges, once overcome with support, took a new form. It wasn't just academic hurdles; it was navigating a society where opportunities were shaped by socioeconomic class. This journey, from high school to broader societal expectations, fuels my curiosity. How do those with learning disabilities fare in the long run, especially when framed by varying socioeconomic classes? My research project aims to untangle the connections between education, economic standing, and the trajectories of those who, like me, faced educational barriers because of my learning disability.

This is my original drawing made in Canva. It represents a guy with learning disabilities at the Bottom of the staircase. He is looking up at the educational barriers due to his disabilities because he is about to embark on the educational journey. The other staircase, which is much higher than the 1st one, represents another issue that is much more difficult for students with low socioeconomic class to get around. That's which is at a steeper rate than the first one.
