1.Adab Towards Parent

Be there for them : As much as possible, be present whether it’s through a call, a visit, or just checking in. Parents often just want to know that you’re thinking of them.

Speak kindly : Sometimes we get frustrated or stressed, but with parents, it’s important to speak gently, even when we disagree. A calm tone can make a big difference.

Listen : Parents have a lot of life experience, and even if we don’t always see things the same way, giving them the space to share their thoughts shows respect.

2.Adab Towards Society

Empathy in Action : Treat others as you want to be treated.Try to understand their circumstances and feelings.A kind gesture, like holding a door or offering a helping hand, can make someone jubilant.

Respecting Differences : Society is a blend of people with different backgrounds, beliefs, and perspectives. Embrace these differences with an open mind and a respectful attitude. Even if you don’t agree, you can listen and find common ground.

Speak with Kindness : Words can build or break. When talking to others, choose words that uplift and encourage rather than criticize or belittle. A kind word can go a long way in making someone feel seen and heard.

3.Adab Towards Friends

Be Present : In a world full of distractions, truly being there for a friend is a rare gift. Whether it’s listening to their stories or just sitting in comfortable silence, your presence is often all they need to feel valued and understood.

Celebrate Their Wins : True friendship means celebrating your friend’s successes as if they were your own. Be their biggest cheerleader when they achieve something, no matter how small, and show genuine joy for their happiness.

Be Honest, But Kind : Friends are the people who tell us the truth, but in a way that doesn’t hurt. If a friend is struggling or needs advice, offer it with kindness and without judgment. Be the person they can trust for an honest, but gentle, reality check.

4.Adab Towards Student

Patience and Understanding : Every student learns at their own pace, and it’s important to recognize that challenges and mistakes are part of the process. Instead of being frustrated, approach their struggles with empathy. Show them that it’s okay to take time to understand something, and offer support rather than judgment.

Encouragement and Positive Reinforcement : Celebrate the small victories as much as the big ones. Whether a student has just grasped a difficult concept or simply tried their best, a word of encouragement can build their confidence. A simple "Well done!" or "Keep going, you're improving!" helps them feel valued and motivated.

Respect for Individuality : Each student has unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. A good teacher recognizes these differences and respects them. Adapt your teaching methods to fit their needs, and avoid comparing students to each other. Help them grow by nurturing their individual talents and encouraging them to explore their own potential.

WEEK 3 : Pillars of Iman: Belief in Allah, Angles,Kitab

The Pillars of Iman are the core beliefs in Islam that help us understand our relationship with God, the universe, and our purpose in life. Here’s a simple and humanized explanation of three key pillars:

1. Belief in Allah (God)

Believing in Allah means understanding that there is one God who created everything. It’s about feeling connected to something bigger than yourself, knowing that Allah is always there watching over you, guiding you, and understanding your struggles. This belief reminds us that we’re never alone, and that we have a purpose. It helps us stay grounded and encourages us to live with compassion, knowing that we are part of a larger plan.

2. Belief in Angels

Angels are seen as beings created by Allah to carry out His will. While we can’t see them, believing in angels is about trusting that there are forces at work beyond our control. Angels help us, protect us, and record our deeds, good and bad. This belief reminds us that our actions matter and encourages us to strive for goodness, knowing that we are always watched over, even when no one else is around. It gives a sense of accountability and reassurance that there is divine support in our lives.

3. Belief in the Kitab

Allah sent guidance through His books, like the Quran and others, to help people understand how to live good lives. Believing in the holy books means that we accept the wisdom and teachings they provide. These books teach us about kindness, justice, mercy, and living with purpose. The Quran, for Muslims, is the final guide for how to live in a way that pleases Allah and benefits humanity. It’s about having a moral compass, a reminder to stay on the right path, and a way to connect more deeply with God.

In essence, these beliefs aren’t just abstract ideas they are about how we live our daily lives, stay connected to our faith, and treat others with kindness and respect. They give us hope, purpose, and direction, helping us live in a way that’s meaningful and fulfilling.

WEEK 5 : IHSAN and ESCHATOLOGY

Ihsan (Excellence in Faith)

Ihsan means doing everything with excellence, as if you are constantly aware that God is watching you. It’s about not just following the rules of your religion, but going beyond them with sincerity and heart. When you pray, help someone, or even do your work, ihsan is about doing it with your best effort, as if you’re doing it in front of God.

In everyday life, ihsan is about being mindful in everything you do like treating people kindly, doing your job with integrity, and always striving to improve yourself. It’s not just about checking off boxes, but about living with deep purpose and goodness in your actions. Ihsan makes life more meaningful because it’s about bringing beauty, sincerity, and care into everything, knowing that you’re accountable not just to people but to God.

Eschatology (Belief in the Afterlife)

Eschatology in Islam refers to the belief in the afterlife and what happens after we die. It’s the idea that this life is temporary, and that after we pass, there’s another, eternal life. In simple terms, it’s the belief that everything we do here matters because we will one day be judged by God for our actions.

This belief is very humanizing because it encourages us to live in a way that leaves a positive mark. If you know that your kindness, honesty, and generosity will be rewarded, and that any harm you cause will be accounted for, you live more consciously. It’s not about fear, but about living with a sense of responsibility and hope knowing that justice will be served and that the struggles of this world will eventually lead to peace in the next. For many, eschatology brings comfort, especially when thinking about loved ones who have passed, with the hope that they’re in a better place.

In essence, ihsan pushes us to live each day with excellence and care, while eschatology reminds us that there’s a larger, eternal purpose to our actions. Together, they encourage us to live more meaningfully, with kindness, purpose, and faith.

The Pillars of Iman guide us in understanding life’s deeper meaning and purpose.

Belief in the Prophets (Rusul and Anbiya’)

This belief is about acknowledging that God sent messengers (Prophets) to guide us. The Prophets were ordinary people chosen by God to deliver His message, teach us right from wrong, and show us how to live good lives. From Adam to Muhammad (PBUH), every Prophet was sent to different communities, but their message was the same: worship one God and live with justice, kindness, and compassion.

Belief in Qiyāmah

Qiyamah, or the Day of Judgment, is the belief that one day, we’ll be held accountable for our actions. It’s about understanding that life doesn’t end with death, but is another life where every good deed is rewarded, and any injustice is corrected. This belief is humanizing because it reminds us that our actions matter. It’s not just about punishment or reward, but about living with purpose. When we believe in Qiyamah, we try to be more mindful, more just, and kinder to others. It gives hope to those who face injustice and encourages us to be better people every day.

Belief in Qadā’ & Qadr

This belief is about understanding that everything happens according to God’s plan, both the good and the bad. Qadā’ & Qadr means trusting that there’s a reason behind everything, even if we don’t always understand it right away. It teaches us to accept life’s ups and downs with patience and gratitude, knowing that God is in control and has wisdom beyond our understanding. This belief can bring peace during tough times. It helps us realize that while we have the ability to make choices and take action, some things are beyond our control. Believing in Qadā’ & Qadr allows us to let go of what we can’t change and focus on what we can live with faith, doing our best, and trusting the process.

In short, belief in the Prophets gives us role models to follow, belief in Qiyamah reminds us to live with accountability and purpose, and belief in Qadā’ & Qadr helps us trust in God’s plan through life’s uncertainties. These pillars bring a sense of hope, responsibility, and peace to our everyday lives.

Adab in seeking knowledge is about having the right attitude and manners when learning. It’s more than just studying,it’s about how you treat knowledge, your teachers, and the learning process.

Stay Humble:

No matter how much you learn, always remember there’s more out there. Humility means being open to learning from everyone, knowing that you don’t have all the answers. It’s okay to say, “I don’t know” and to always be curious.

Respect Your Teachers and Knowledge:

Treat your teachers with kindness and gratitude, whether it’s a classroom teacher, a mentor, or even a friend who shares something valuable. Also, respect the knowledge itself—books, resources, and ideas. Being attentive and thankful shows that you value learning.

Have Good Intentions:

When you seek knowledge, do it for the right reasons. Don’t learn just to impress others or feel superior. Your goal should be to grow as a person, help others, and become better in what you do. When your heart is in the right place, learning becomes more meaningful.

In short, adab in seeking knowledge is about learning with an open heart, respecting others, and using what you learn to make a positive difference. It’s about being a good student in life, not just in the classroom.

The discussions reminded me of how vital it is to stay connected with Allah and to keep striving to improve ourselves, even in small ways. I also realized the power of sharing knowledge and experiences, as each person’s perspective can help us see things differently and grow in faith.

Summary Week 1: Taaruf, Niyyah, Ibadah, and Ihsan

1. Taaruf comes from the Arabic word Arafa meaning to know. The facilitator started the usrah session with taaruf to introduce everyone, learn their backgrounds, and discuss expectations for Usrah 2 (CCUB 1062).

2. Niyyah refers to intention in Islam. A sincere niyyah ensures that our actions are done for Allah sake, not for others. It differentiates between true worship and acts done for personal gain.

3. Amal refers to good deeds and worship. The Five Pillars of Islam ”Shahadah, Salah, Sawm, Zakat, and Hajj are essential acts of amal that define a Muslim faith and duties.

4. It includes values like compassion, honesty, humility, and patience.

Usrah 2 has been a meaningful experience that helped me grow spiritually and personally. I learned the importance of sincerity (ikhlas) in everything we do, the power of good intentions (niyyah), and the need to always seek knowledge. This usrah also reminded me that Islam is not just about personal worship but also about helping others and being a good member of society.

I also realized the value of consistency in ibadah (worship), even if it just small daily acts like dhikr and reading the Quran. The sense of brotherhood (ukhuwah) in this usrah was inspiring, as it showed me the importance of supporting and encouraging each other in our journey of faith.

For the improvement, Naqib can add on more learning technique such as showing us a video on every weekly topic that we discuss. For me,this method will make the usrah more impressive to join

Overall, this usrah has motivated me to improve myself and practice good character (akhlaq) in daily life. I hope to continue applying these lessons to become a better Muslim.
