the list of your sources (websites and
articles you are going to use for doing your presentation). It is important
that you have several sources (about 40 words).

When you are depicting a
city or a region, choose an aspect that you find interesting and focuse on it;
don’t spend the whole presentation just giving general information, you also
have to give examples.

Eric: You seem to have quite a lot of information already. It's good but be sure you can give some illustration of what you are talking about during your presentations, like photos.

We choose Powerpoint to present some important details we have found interesting about the city of Bordeaux.

TITLE: CITY OF BORDEAUX - WORLD’S MAJOR WINE INDUSTRY CAPITAL

SUBTITLE: VILLE DE BORDEAUX - CAPITALE DE L'INDUSTRIE DU VIN
MAJEUR DE MONDE

INTRODUCTION

Bordeaux, in southwestern France, is a port city on the Garonne and hub of the famed wine-growing region. It’s known for its Gothic Cathédrale St-André, as well as its many fine and contemporary art museums and 18th- and 19th-century mansions. Public gardens line the curving river quays, and grand Place de la Bourse opens to the water, with the Three Graces fountain at its center.

Our presentation is divided into three (3) parts:

HISTORY

We will talk about the origin of the city, who named it, the battles happened to acquire the city, its golden age, how the commerce in the city flourished and its role in the times of war. For instance, In 107 BCE, the Battle of Burdigala was fought by the Romans who were defending the Allobroges, a Gallic tribe allied to Rome, and the Tigurini led by Divico. The Romans were defeated and their commander, the consul Lucius Cassius Longinus, was killed in the action.

ECONOMY

We will talk about the major industries, especially the wine industry where the city is most famous at. The vine was introduced to the Bordeaux region by the Romans, probably in the mid-1st century, to provide wine for local consumption, and wine production has been continuous in the region. Bordeaux produces large quantities of everyday wine as well as some of the most expensive wines in the world.

MAJOR SIGHTINGS

We will present some main sights that made the city a sought-after destination to both tourists and cinema production crews; hence, the reason it is classified as “The City of Arts and History”. The city is home to 362 monuments historiques (only Paris has more in France) with some buildings dating back to Roman times. Bordeaux has been inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List as "an outstanding urban and architectural ensemble".

CONCLUSION

The City of Bordeaux is rich both in arts and history, still preserving its magnificent heritage as seen by its outstanding urban and architectural ensemble. The city also has some rigid economy to back it up, with the wine industry doing its charm, to wine-lovers and tourists alike.

SOURCES

https://www.google.com.ph/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=Yg3IVdyXKaaV8QffmpLgAw#q=bordeaux+city

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Burdigala

Johnson, Hugh (1994).

Eric: Not bad, but you talk a lot about flemish art and culture. Make you can explain that to your fellow classmates during your presentation.

Our form of presentation is KEYNOTE that comprises a series of slides about our chosen city, the City of Lille.

TITLE: LILLE THE MOST FLEMISH OF ALL FRENCH CITIES

INTRODUCTION:

Its superior geographical location and transport network make Lille a gateway to Northern Europe. Dynamic and colorful, it is the biggest city in Northern France.

Our presentation, consists of the following:

HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF THE CITY OF LILLE

This compose of Lille’s Antiquity, Facts and Figures of Lille, Lille City Map and Travel and Transport of Lille.

OUTLOOK IN THE CITY OF LILLE

This includes the City’s Institutions, Festivals, Parks and Gardens of the City, and The City’s Lifestyle and Community Life in Lille.

CITY OF LILLE URBAN PLANNING

A part where we discuss the Lille Major Urban Project (Le Grand Project Urbain)

These are the three (3) parts in our presentation.

HISTORY AND HERITAGE OF THE CITY OF LILLE

Lille is right by the border of Belgium. Which many people can travel from Belgium to Lille for work. There are no more borders gates now. The E.U took them away so more people can travel to the city. Classified as a city of "Art et Histoire" since 2004, Lille has conserved a large number of buildings and monuments, both secular and religious, which remain as signs of its illustrious past. These include the Citadelle park and fortress, a beautiful example of 17th century military architecture, designed by Vauban; the Vieille Bourse, a reminder of the Spanish occupation of the region as well as the marriage of the French and Flemish cultures; the Grand Place, focal point of life in Lille, with its "Déesse" statue, symbolising the resistance against the Austrians in 1792; the Porte de Paris; and also the rue de la Monnaie where coins were minted so many years ago.

OUTLOOK IN THE CITY OF LILLE

Lille is situated within the Nord-Pas de Calais region, which regroups both the Nord and Pas de Calais départements. The city of Lille is the home of a number of landmark buildings, including the newly constructed regional headquarters, visible as you enter the city from the East.

Lille is situated within the Nord département (a département is more or less the equivalent of a county in Great Britain, or a provencia in Spain). As the capital city of the Nord, Lille is the home of the headquarters and governing body of the département, named the conseil général.

As both leisure amenities and places to enjoy nature; parks and gardens are much more than simple decorations in the cityscape. They participate towards improving the lifestyle of city residents, as well as contributing in environmental terms towards the ‘health’ of the planet.

CITY OF LILLE URBAN PLANNING

The aim of the City of Lille is to enable each resident to profit from the city's development, whatever their district of residence may be.

To this end, the Urban Project of the city has its goal in ensuring each district exists as a veritable portion of the city, where a wide variety of functions (housing, shops, businesses, sports, culture) and a high quality of public infrastructures (highways, squares and gardens, public amenities) can be found.

The objective is to offer a quality of life in the context of sustainable development, where the residents of the different districts of Lille, Hellemmes and Lomme all live better together in their diversity.

CONCLUSION:

Therefore we conclude that the City of Lille is accessible, welcoming and with a rich heritage, it is a town with something for everyone. Luxury boutiques and charming pedestrian streets rub shoulders l with big name stores such as “Galeries Lafayette” or “Le Printemps”, not forgetting Lille’s art galleries and colorful markets.

Maybe in the third part, you can grasp informations about Bordeaux's university and try to see what is like to be a student in Bordeaux.

TITLE: Bordeaux Wine: Vins de Bordeaux

Introduction:

Long called La Belle Endormie (“Sleeping Beauty”), over the last decade Bordeaux has at last woken up and is currently stretching its legs and fluffing its finery. First the historic city center was cleaned up, revealing the splendors of its harmonious 18th-century architecture. Then a nifty tramway (streetcar) system was installed, and cars were banished from most of the historic center. Finally, the quays of the Garonne River were given an extensive overhaul and are now lined with public gardens, fountains, and playgrounds. The city has reconnected with the river, as best symbolized by the stunning 18th-century Place de la Bourse, which opens directly on the banks and is now scrubbed down and bedecked with a “water mirror,” a long, shallow fountain that you can walk and splash around in on sunny days.

In our presentation we will talk about:

1. History of Bordeaux

2. Tourist Attractions of Bordeaux

3. Economy of Bordeaux

4. Bordeaux wine

History:

Bordeaux has been occupied for thousands of years. First by the Celts, who established a small village they named Burdigala around 300 BC, then by the Romans, in 60 BC. With the fall of the Roman Empire came hundreds of years of strife and chaos.

Sources:

http://www.frommers.com/destinations/bordeaux/743690

http://www.bordovino.com/the-history)

e.g. its location, history and population among others, (2) the interesting and
fascinating facts about the city and (3) a wrap-up about the presentation.

V.1 General Information About the City

As mentioned earlier, in this part

the City it is known for. Some of these information are:

V.1.i Located on the south east coast of France on the
Mediterranean Sea, Nice is the second-largest French city on the Mediterranean
coast and the second-largest city in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region
      after Marseille.

V.1.ii Nice, the fifth largest city in France, acts as a magnet
attracting people from all over the world, for a multitude of reasons, Not only
renowned for its grace, Nice has become a hub for research in industry, science
and advanced technology since the creation of such centers as Acropolis and

V.2 The Popular City of Nice

In this part of the presentation,
different interesting facts about the city of Nice will be presented. This part
is like an in-depth look on the city of Nice. This sneak will be about the city’s
tourist spots, cuisine and the likes. Some of these facts that will be
presented are:

V.2.i Nice has a few local dishes. There is a local tart made with
onions and anchovies (or anchovy paste), named "Pissaladière". Socca
is a type of pancake made from chickpea flour. Farcis niçois is a dish made
from vegetables stuffed with a mixture of breadcrumbs, meat (generally sausage
and ground beef), and herbs; and salade niçoise is a tomato salad with green
peppers of the "Corne" variety, baked eggs, tuna or anchovies, and
olives. Local meat comes from neighbouring valleys, such as the sheep of
Sisteron. Local fish, such as mullets, bream, sea urchins, and anchovies
(alevins) are used to a great extent, so much so that it has given birth to a
proverb: "fish are born in the sea and die in oil".

      V.2.ii The city is animated
at night as well as in the day especially in the summer with the Nice Jazz
Festival held in the arena, the gardens of Cimiez, and the flower
"war" on the Promenade des Anglais in which participate the prettiest
women on the Cote d'Azur (French Riviera).

V.3 Wrap-up of the presentation about the City of Nice

In this part of the presentation,
there will be a trivia or a game which will test the retention of the audience

Eric: ok.

Sir this is a revised from the old one.

We will have a power point presentation:

2. Economy of Bordeaux

3. What its like to be a student in Bordeaux.

History:

Bordeaux has been occupied for thousands of years. First by the Celts, who established a small village they named Burdigala around 300 BC, then by the Romans, in 60 BC. With the fall of the Roman Empire came hundreds of years of strife and chaos.

Economy:The economy of Bordeaux is centred around the trade of wines and liqueurs (14,000 producers and 400 wholesale dealers), the aeronautical industry and a range of other activities related to the electrical, electronics, automotive, chemical and biotechnological industries. As the administrative capital city of Aquitaine, Bordeaux also has a well developed tertiary sector with approximately 3,200 service businesses.

We think that it is very convenient to be a student in Bordeaux. There are student apartments near schools, offering furnished student apartments in Bordeaux which are only a short distance away from public transportation.

Sources:

http://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/archive/urban2/urban/audit/results/bordeaux.htm

http://www.frommers.com/destinations/bordeaux/743690

http://www.bordovino.com/the-history)

I took your advice about what to put in our presentation.

Description of Strasbourg

Strasbourg is the capital city of the Alsace region in northeastern France. It's the seat of the European Parliament and sits near the German border, with culture and architecture blending German and French influences. It's known for its Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame, featuring daily shows from its astronomical clock and sweeping views of the Rhine River from partway up its 142m spire. is the seat of several European institutions, such as the Council of Europe (with its European Court of Human Rights, its European Directorate for the Quality of Medicine and its European Audiovisual Observatory) and the Eurocorps , as well as the European Parliament and the European Ombudsman of the European Union.

Introduction of Strasbourg

It is the capital city of the Alsace region in northeastern France. It's known for its Gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame, featuring daily shows from its astronomical clock and sweeping views of the Rhine River from partway up its 142m spire.Strasbourg is the perfect overture to all that is idiosyncratic about Alsace – walking a fine tightrope between France and Germany and between a medieval past and a progressive future, it pulls off ts act in inimitable Alsatian style.Tear your gaze away from that mesmerising Gothic cathedral for just a minute and you’ll be roaming the old town’s twisting alleys lined with crooked half-timbered houses à la Grimm; feasting in the cosiest of winstubs (Alsatian taverns) by the canalside in ; and marvelling at how a city that does Christmas markets and gingerbread so well can also be home to the glittering EU Quarter and ’s second-largest student population. But that’s Strasbourg for you: all the sweeter for its contradictions and cross-cultural quirks.

HISTORY

Strasbourg or ‘the town at the crossroads’, has always occupied a strategic position in Europe. Originally a Roman camp called Argentoratum, it served as a defensive fort. The streets of this small, fortified area built on a marshy island on the Ill river would later become the city of Strasbourg. In 1262, Strasbourg became a free city of the Germanic Holy Roman Empire and, behind its fortified walls, power gravitated around the emblematic Pfalz, or town hall. Strasbourg was annexed to France in 1681 as Louis XV realised its strategic importance. The 18th century witnessed the start of a burgeoning court of nobles and wealthy bourgeois, who built numerous mansions such as those in rue Brûlée and rue de la Nuée Bleue. The French Revolution in 1792 left the city in a terrible state; many churches and cloisters were destroyed or damaged. The dialect that the citizens of Strasbourg speak is Alsace.

In our presentation, the 3 parts with include: (pictures will be added)

Architecture

Transportation

Education

Conclusion
The conclusion of our presentation will be mainly about the culture, education, transportation and history about the city. Title:
Un mémorable Escapade dans la ville de Lyon
(A Memorable Escapade in the City of lyons)

Brief History:
Ideally located between Massif Central and the Alps, at only 300 km for the Mediterranean see, Lyon made the most of its exceptional geographical location to build 2000 years of a fascinating history. Today, Lyon became the second largest French metropolis after Paris and the Capital of Rhone Alps region. Let us tell you the extraordinary destiny of Lyon city:
Lyon, Capital of Gauls under Roman Empire:
First named Lugdunum meaning the "hill of the light" or "the hill of the crow", Lyon was founded on the Fourviere hill as a Roman colony in 43 B.C. by Munatius Plancus, a lieutenant of Caesar. Originally its role was limited to military but expanded to include politics, economics, and religion converting the city in the Capital of the Three Gauls. Soon, a forum, a theater, a temple of Cybele and public baths were erected and the city started to expend to other neighborhoods like Croix Rousse and down to the Presqu’ile area.
As the birthplace of Christianity in Gaul, Lyon witnessed its first martyrs in the year 177 with the torture of Saint Blandine. At the end of the 3rd century, the decline of the Roman Empire exposed Lugdunum to the violent invasions of the Barbarians who chased out the inhabitants of the upper city. Lyon was plagued by ravages and political instability which put an end to its growth and finally lost its status as Capital of the Three Gauls.

Economy:
The GDP of Lyon is 62 billion euro,[31] and the city is the second richest after Paris. Lyon and its region Rhône-Alpes represent one of the most important economies in Europe and, according to Loughborough University, can be compared to Philadelphia, Mumbai or Athens concerning its international position. The city of Lyon is working in partnerships to more easily enable the establishment of new headquarters in the territory (ADERLY, Chambre du commerce et d'industrie, Grand Lyon...). According to the ECER-Banque Populaire, Lyon is the 14th favorite city in the European Union concerning the creation of companies and investments[citation needed]. High-tech industries like biotechnology, software development, game design, and internet services are also growing. Other important sectors include medical research and technology, non-profit institutions, and universities. Lyon is home to some of the most dangerous viruses in the world (class 4) in the Jean Merieux laboratory of research, like Ebola, Marburg, Nipah, Hendra, and Lassa.[32]

The city is the headquarters of many companies like Euronews; Lyon Airports; BioMérieux; Sanofi Pasteur; LCL S.A.; Cegid Group; Boiron; Infogrames; Groupe SEB; Renault Trucks; Irisbus; LVL Medical, GL Events; Compagnie Nationale du Rhône; Norbert Dentressangle and intergovernmental agencies IARC, Interpol. The specialization of some sectors of activities has the consequence of creating several main business centers: La Part-Dieu, located in the 3rd arrondissement is the second biggest business quarter after La Défense in Paris with over 1,600,000 m2 (17,222,256.67 sq ft) of office space and services and more than 40,000 jobs.[33] Cité Internationale, created by the architect Renzo Piano is located in the border of the Parc de la Tête d'Or in the 6th arrondissement. The worldwide headquarters of Interpol is located there. The district of Confluence, in the south of the historic centre, is a new pole of economical and cultural development.

Tourism:
Tourism is an important part of the Lyon economy, with one billion euros in 2007 and 3.5 million hotel-nights in 2006 provided by non-residents. Approximately 60% of tourists visit for business, with the rest for leisure. In January 2009, Lyon ranked first in France for hostels business. The festivals most important for attracting tourists are the Fête des lumières, the Nuits de Fourvière every summer, the Biennale d'art contemporain and the Nuits Sonores.

Conclusion:
The City of Lyons is nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Linn County, which rushes along the northern edge of town, has become well known for its fishing and white water recreational activities.

It will be presented through a power point presentation. We will also present a video about how can we make our day fun in the City of Toulouse and a pictures in their beautiful spots as well.

Title:

Permet de faire des souvenirs et découvrir la beauté de Toulouse peut offrir

(Lets make memories and experience the beauty of Toulouse can offer)

Brief History:

The 4th city of France in terms of number of inhabitants
Toulouse is known throughout the world mainly as the place where Airbus planes
are built! It is however also an ancient city where history is written on
almost each of its stones. Toulouse was founded 4th centuries BC by Celtic
people called the Volques Tectosages. During the 1st century BC the Romans
occupy it and give the city the name Tolosa. It is on the Garonne River, about 370 miles (595 km) south of Paris, and is a leading commercial, industrial, and transportation center.

Tourism:

Toulouse has become a center of aviation and spaceflight in the past 20 years. More than 35,000 of the inner city's 400,000 citizens work in the civil aviation or space industries; Airbus Group (formerly EADS) is the largest employer in the region. The city has remained relatively unchanged despite the economic boom.

The city, on the Garonne river, is on the site of an ancient Roman settlement; even today many of the smaller streets follow their Roman counterparts and many of the red brick buildings are of a pseudo-Roman style. These buildings are also what gives Toulouse its nickname La ville rose (The pink city).

In the middle ages, Toulouse was one of the richest cities in France due to the sale of blue coloring (pastel) extracted from woad plants. This monopoly was only broken when the Portuguese began to import Indigo toEurope. Over 50 hotels, mansions, remain witness to the past wealth.

Conclusion:

Visually, this Midi-Pyreneen city is like none other, owing to its pink bricks and red tiles. Wander through Toulouse: you will be captivated by the colours of its buildings. Local gastronomy also has many surprises in store: the numerous restaurants lining the pink city are there to welcome you. This is your chance to taste traditional cassoulet, Toulouse sausage, foie gras, and other culinary specialities of the south-west. A local wine is the perfect accompaniment to these dishes.

Sources :http://wikitravel.org/en/Toulouse
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/holidaytypeshub/article-605733/Six-things--Toulouse.html#ixzz3ibiA8300
http://www.sacred-destinations.com/france/toulouse-st-sernin

http://geography.howstuffworks.com/europe/geography-of-toulouse.html

http://www.map-france.com/Toulouse-31500/map-Toulouse.html

http://www.inrap.fr/preventive-archaeology/Press-release/2005/p-1339-lg1-Exceptional-archaeological-discovery-in-Toulouse.htm

http://www.toulouse-tours.com/

http://www.france-voyage.com/cities-towns/toulouse-10586.htm

http://southweststory.com/toulouse-short-history

http://www.hoteldebrienne.com/uk/tourisme-toulouse.php

To the north and east it shares a border with Germany; to the south with German-speaking Switzerland, and to the west with Lorraine and Franche Comté.

Brief History: In prehistoric times, Alsace was inhabited by nomadic hunters. By 1500

BC, Celts began to settle in Alsace, clearing and cultivating the land. By 58 BC, the Romans had invaded and established Alsace as a center of viticulture. To protect this highly valued industry, the Romans built fortifications and military camps that evolved into various communities which have been inhabited continuously to the present day. While part of the Roman Empire, Alsace was part of Germania Superior. With the decline of the Roman Empire, Alsace became the territory of the Germanic Alemanni. The Alemanni were agricultural people, and their Germanic language formed the basis of modern-day dialects spoken along the Upper Rhine (Alsatian, Alemannian, Swabian, Swiss). At about this time the surrounding areas experienced recurring fragmentation and reincorporations among a number of feudal secular and ecclesiastical lordships, a common process in the Holy Roman Empire. This situation prevailed until 1639, when most of Alsace was conquered by France so as to keep it out of the hands of the Spanish Habsburgs, who wanted a clear road to their valuable and rebellious possessions in the Spanish Netherlands. The year 1789 brought the French Revolution and with it the first division of Alsace into the départements of Haut- and Bas-Rhin.
Alsatians played an active role in the French Revolution.By 1790, the Jewish population of Alsace was approximately 22,500, about 3% of the provincial population. They
were highly segregated and subject to long-standing anti-Jewish regulations.France started the Franco-Prussian War(1870–71), and was defeated by the Kingdom of Prussia and other German states.

Parts of our Presentation:

· History of Alsace

· Heritage and Culture of Alsace

· Main attractions of Alsace

Sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alsace

http://about-france.com/regions/alsace.htm

It is the official seat of the European Parliament. It has an estimated population of some 300,000. It covers an area of 521 sq miles. The Romans established a town on the present site of the city and named it Argentoratum.

Brief History: The first traces of human occupation in the environs of Strasbourg go back many thousands of years. Neolithic, Bronze Ageand Iron Ageartifacts have been uncovered by archaeological excavations. It was permanently settled by Proto-Celts around 1300 BC. Towards the end of the third century BC, it developed into a Celtic township with a market called "Argentorate". Drainage works converted the stilt houses to houses built on dry land. The Free City of Strasbourg remained neutral during the Thirty Years' War, and retained its status as a Free Imperial City. However, the city was annexed by King Louis XIV of France to extend the borders of his kingdom. Strasbourg's status as a free citywa srevoked by the French Revolution. Enragés, most notoriously Eulogius Schneider, ruled the city with an increasingly iron hand. During this time, many churches and cloisters were either destroyed or severely damaged. The tower was saved, however, when in May of the same year citizens of Strasbourg crowned it with a giant tin Phrygian cap. This artifact was later kept in the historical collections of the city until it was destroyed by the Germans in 1870 during the Franco-Prussian war.
Parts of our Presentation:

History of Strasbourg

Culture of Strasbourg

Main Attractions of Strasbourg with Pictures

Sources:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strasbourg

http://wikitravel.org/en/Strasbourg

http://www.eupedia.com/france/strasbourg.shtml

http://5factsabout.com/articles/5-facts-about-Strasbourg/

Don't be afraid to spend some time on that during your presentation.

Form of Presentation: Powerpoint

Title: Nous savons que la beaute de la bretagne(let us know the beauty of bretagne)

Subtitle: son plus amusant dans la grande bretagne (its more fun in the great Bretagne)

Brief History: During Dark ages, wave upon wave of immigrants from Ireland, Wales and southern England profoundly altered the character of the Armorican peninsula, turning it into Brittany, or Little Britain. They spread their own brand of Christianity as well as their exuberant legends and a feisty, independent Brittany was forged in this period.

Brittany, or the Armorican peninsula, as it was known in antiquity, is famed for its numerous Neolithic monuments. Most of the great burial chambers here predate the Egyptian pyramids by a long time. They consisted of a dolmen, or stone chamber, for the bodies, covered by a tumulus, an earth mound. As to the countless Neolithic menhirs, the standing stones for which the region is celebrated, they remain a riddle even for scholars.

The Region of Brittany [Bretagne] is located on the peninsula, that extends about 150 miles into the Atlantic, in the extreme northwest of France, and separates the English Channel from the Bay of Biscay. It is almost identical to the historic province of Bretagne, and consists of the départements of Côtes-d’Armor [Côtes-du-Nord], Finistère, Ille-et-Vilaine and Morbihan. The old province also contained the Département of Loire-Atlantique, which is now a part of the Region of Pays-de-la-Loire.The region is bordered by the English Channel to the north, Basse-Normandie [Lower Normandy] to the northeast, Pays-de-la-Loire [Western Loire] to the east, the Bay of Biscay to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Its capital is Rennes.

Parts of our presentation:

-- history

-- Culture

-- economy and their main attraction

Conclusion:

The conclusion of our presentation about the city of bretagne is about their education, government and etc. that can help us to know more about the city of bretagne. they have a delicious pan cakes and their wine is known in other countries. bretagne consists of Cotes Armor, Fenistere, Ille-et-Villaine and morbihan.
