THUG is about Starr Carter, a 15 year old student that watched her best friend, Khalil, get shot by a police officer. Starr has to decide if she will speak out against injustice, or watch her neighborhood go down in riots and violence about Khalil's murder. This book is number 1 on the YA bestseller list, and is being made into a movie for next year. I recommend this read to every single person, showing the racial divides in our country and the honest account of what it's like to be stereotyped in today's world.

The only buildings that are there are ones that were greatly loved by people that when they were destroyed, they crossed over. Nick and Allie are the two main characters that have just recently crossed over and are trying to learn the way things work around here. Some kids have formed little tribes while other go in search of items that have crossed over and then trade. Food is a rare and so is transportation. Allie learns that she and some others have the ability to "skinjack" or posses the living, while others can rip things from the living world and bring them into everlost. Later in the chapter they get pulled over & Khalil gets shot while Starr is in the car. The saddest part is that it was a childhood friend of her older brother. Throughout the book, she struggles with being who she used to be and ends up going through a tough high school experience.
