David was almost close to death. His mom started to take care of his cut. Davids cut on his stomach soon became infected and his had to take care of the cut himself. He didn't want to ask his mom for help. He didn't want her help. Everything was perfect. David's mother brainwashed him into thinking he was a "bad boy". David tried so hard to please his mother. But no matter how much his mother and father would fight over him, his mom always won. And she would beat David till no end  telling him he was the reason his parents were fighting. 
It got the point were David's dad just stopped trying to sneak him food and argue with his mom about feeding him. When he was at home it was a habit that they would do the dishes together.  David knew his dad hated living at home and David felt like it was all his fault. But it wasn't, it was his mom's .  But like always, all good things come to an end. David's mother told his Father not to pay attention to him. She told him to stop helping him with the dishes and pay more attention to the rest of the family. And his father gave in without a fight. If he really loved his children he would've taken them away from that kind of enviornment and gotten his wife help. On his off days he would be in and out in a matter of 10 minutes. He would come in and say hey to the kids and be out. One day while David was scrubbing the floor his dad knelt down beside him and told im how sorry he was. When David looked up into his face he noticed how different his dad looked. He looked horrible. All the years of living in "The Madhouse" had took a toll on him and it was straining him. She played horrible games with David. David went a whole 10 days without food. He was so weak he could barely eat. She would throw a plate of little food in front of David and tell him he had 2 minutes to eat. But when David reached for the fork, she would snatch the plate and throw it into sink and snarl at him saying "Times up". 
    When she did it a second time David beat her and snatched the plate up and basically inhaled the food. His mom snarled at him telling him he ate like a pig. But David knew he won. He got the food. 
Another game she would lock David in the bathroom with a bucket of amonia and clorox. She told him she saw it in the newspaper and wanted to try it. Out of all of his mother's game, Dave hated that one the most. He had so much hate in his heart for everyone that knew about his living condition that he could spit. HIs brothers disowned him and would take turns beating on him after their mother. He began to wish he was dead and he was just waiting for the day when his mother would kill him. So he started to do his chores carelessly. He got bullied at school so much that he began to stop believing in school and the great joy it used to bring him. He began to act out in stores not caring. He just knew that eventually his mother was going to give him what he wanted. He hated and was tired of living in the house. He was tired of the constant fighting with his wife so he eventually left for good. He packed an overnight bag and left. Eventually David watched as his mother packed all of his dad's things in boxes. When they arrived to the motel their father was staying in David noticed how realived his father looked to be getting away from the hell he had been living in. It broke David's heart and he knew he was doomed. I was left with a wave of emotions that I've never felt before towards a book. And the fact that it's an Autobiography just makes it worse. To be honest, if I was alive at that time and was a neighbor or a worker at the school or a family friend that knew about David's living conditions and his abuse I would've done something about it. I really think that his mother just wanted to have some control in her life so she decided to turn her entire household upside down and ruin her marriage just so she could once have some control in her life. I don't believe David's mom really loved her family. If she did, she would've gotten help for her condition and wouldn't put her family through the caos that she created.
