On September 29, 2017 Demi Lovato released her sixth studio album, Tell Me You Love Me. This album consists of seventeen songs. Demi Lovato’s music is considered to be pop however this album does incorporate a little bit of R&B. Demi Lovato’s music has always had a great impact on people. Lovato is an extremely influential young lady, she has been through so much and she wants her fans to understand they’re not alone. She wants to empower others through her songs. In her sixth album, “Tell Me You Love Me” Demi Lovato wanted to be very open about her life and her struggles such as her recent break up, father issues, and her body issues. The goal of her was very successful because I feel like in this album Lovato wanted to be soulful and wanted to focus on her voice, which she did.

Transmission in Album

For the song “You Don’t Do It for Me Anymore” the song element of transmission is heavily apparent. In fact, I would say transmission is present all throughout this album. In the song its apparent that Lovato is pouring her heart and soul into this song. She’s expressing the fact that her relationship wasn’t healthy anymore. Ratliff explains “When you have a great gift in music and set a great amount of energy toward maintaining and developing it—when you have dedicated your life to an idea of excellence and then self-preservation—then you are practicing a form of transmission every time you play."
