This website shows step-by-step how to incorporate project based learning into your class room. Projects help to engage students, so it is best when the teacher knows exactly how to implement them into their lesson plans. There are many different options of project based learning that could apply to a 5th grade math classroom. For examples, students could create a paper house, using exact perimeter and area to create it.

This pictures shows a math game for fifth graders. This game is perfect for standard 3 because it has a "by yourself" option and a "with a partner" option to play the game. The students can be instructed to play the game alone, answering as many problems as they can, and then to play the game with a partner. With their partner, they can answer the questions they were unsure about. This ensures that students are learning individually and collaborative.
