Installment buying was a huge impact on our modern economy because it enabled people to buy goods over an extended period of time, without having to put down very much money at the time of purchase. With this plan people could purchase automobile, household appliances, homes, furniture, and other items. It made things more available for people who were in lower in the low class and middle class. In an article it states that " In the 1920s, the items people could purchase with an installment plan included: automobiles, automobile parts, household appliances, radios, phonographs, pianos, and furniture" ( Instalment plans, 2020, para.1). This shows how people were able to buy things they were not able to but before this new concept. Many got to increase there standard of living thru this way leading to more things being bought by people. This new concept increased standard of living and it still does today. In today's time, this is used 24/7.

During the 1920s advertisement was a big way for companies to sell there products to customers. When people started to advertise prices dropped and people started to buy more goods and services. technology started to get advanced which helped people create creative and persuading ads. In an article it states that, "Advertising a product changed from simply announcing the existence of a product in a dull, dry fashion to persuading the public they needed and deserved to own the product. By developing repeat customers, advertising also helped build brand loyalty for the company. Brand loyalty helps sell other existing and new products to these same customers" ( Advertising in the 1920s, 2000). The reason ads became more fashionable and attractive was because technology advanced which helped make the ads look better and attractive. Ads also helped companies sell more products because people would go for one thing and see more stuff so they would end up buying it.

The Great Depression was the longest economic recession in history. So many people lost their jobs and homes so they became homeless. During this time period the rate of unemployment was so high it almost reached up 25%. In an article it states that " Workers lost jobs along with their homes and possessions. Many of those who were able to keep their jobs barely made enough to make ends meet. The value of currency declined steadily, and the agricultural market spiraled downward. Panic spread throughout the country, and lives were turned upside down" ( The Cause of the Great Depression, 2020). The recession caused so many losses to people that they were not able to afford anything. During this time period citizens would do anything to earn money because they were desperate for it. They needed money to survive.
