  • This gives educators a guide to help meet students where they are at in order to develop their skills and create growth.

  • Students show growth by mastery of skill or standard. Examples of growth are:

    • Gains in Reading Level ( moving from 2nd grade reading level to 4th grade reading level)

    • Mastery of Math skills ( proficient in addition and subtraction moving to multiplication)

  • As students achieve gains and growth in skills and standards change begins to happen in mindset, excitement, and curiosity in education starts to form.

Teachers attend college learning strategies, practices, and theories to implement in their classrooms. But, yet the first few years of teaching are the most difficult. This is growth for educators. Gaining confidence in your ability to teach happens over time and shows growth.

Change

Teacher have to know when to change their strategies, practices, and theories in the best interest of their students.

When something is out dated and no longer working for students educators must know when to change. Flexibility is a virtue that educators must have as things in education is constantly changing such as:

I have definitely grown since my first years of teaching. By my fourth year of teaching I received a nomination for teacher of the year and another nomination my fifth year. I have remained flexible to new curriculum, strategies, administrators, and even virtual learning, making change not an obstacle for me. Continuously reflecting on new ways to engage my students and the latest research. The perfect example of this was last school year teaching 8th grade U.S. History and finding a cool way to teach the Articles of Confederation.

The students loved this way of learning that topic and I seen change when they where asking for more. Teaching is truly a gratifying experience.
