I can personally relate to this quote because I go through the same thing at home and at school. I like that I read this part of the book, because as a young girl, I didn't even know what code switching was. I  thought it was frowned upon. My grandparents were very proper and would constantly contract me about my spanglish. As mentioned before, I always felt that it wasn't accepted to be who you are at home. Teachers in the hallway would prohibit speaking Spanish. In the hispanic culture, when you greet someone, you always hug and kiss(on the cheek) to say hello and goodbye and the teacher would write up discipline referrals disorderly conduct. I stopped greeting people as if we were out of school, but some people were really offended. I just thought that is the way of life. In high school, I had a hispanic English teacher that would try to speak ebonics with her African American students. I personally thought that it was weird and never seemed to understand why she did this until I read the book. I'm so glad that now a days, students are able to be who they are at times when in school. As an intern, my observations didn't go as well. I just feel like I have a longggg way to go to accomplish to being the teacher that I want to be. But I know that with my mistakes, I will learn to become a better teacher and my experiences will help.

This conclusion really stood out to me because it's 100% true. Because I'm interning at two different schools, I can see the difference of attitudes to both teachers. This plays a huge part on the students and how they choose to learn. They will sense your rejection it will completely change the learning environment. In this Ellen video, one thing that Mr. O. said that really hit me was,
"If you fill your class with love today, you'll fill the WORLD with love tomorrow." Sometimes I'm tired, I don't want to come to school, but the students I see, make me get up. They force me to change and get in my car and sit in the morning traffic.
