1. Out of the topics above, which is most important to you? Why? What does this tell you about what you value?

To me, I think the most important one would be abortion being legalized. It is because that I am female and this could be related to me (but hopefully not). Not only it shows women's rights to make decision about our own body, it also brings many positive side effects. Since women won't have to raise the children, if they are really poor, they don't have to steal, rob, or murder to get money to raise their children, the crime rate will decrease.
My opinion shows that I value rights and independence for women, starting with being able to make decision about our own body.

2. What do you value in the world? How does this shape the way you think about the world and what’s happening in it?
From my observation on myself, it seems like that I value knowledge, women's rights, and everyone is equal.
The knowledge part makes

me admire and be impressed of those who are intelligent and hardworking, such as scientists and some of my peers. The fact that I value women's rights is because I came from a country where the inequality between the two genders are fairly significant, and therefore I am very fond of the part of the Canadian culture that respects women. I do so by supporting all kinds of bills and events that brings benefit to women, such as abortion, helping girls in Asia to get a chance of education by donating to certain organizations, and I am a Hilary Clinton supporter.
Nevertheless, I do support all types of human rights, especially LGBTQ because 2 of my closest friends are bisexual and transgender. I've witnessed criticize and stereotypes on them, which I seriously felt sorry and furious for.

3. Can you think of an example of people having competing values, which has led to conflict? What can we do to help people with differing values to live together peacefully?
I've witnessed such thing. On Chinese social medias, conflicts are very frequent. Some people believed that when there is a rape, it is the girls fault for dressing too "attractive". Of course, this is a very controversial opinion, and lots of people were swearing and hating on each other because of their opinions.
I think that making everyone educated and knows how to respect would be a good start. Educated will make everyone realize that people are equal and anyone is capable of doing anything, and even if they still can't accept each other's opinion, they are still able to respect one another.

1. Out of all the topics listed above the one that’s most important to me is we should we should not bring back The Lord’s Prayer in Manitoba schools. This is the most important issue to me because I feel that if we were to bring back this prayer it would be a very bad choice for many reasons. One of these reasons is that is very ethnocentric to push your personal beliefs on to other students and staff. Canada is also meant to be multicultural and celebrate all religions and beliefs equally and this would be the very opposite of doing that. Finally, there’s enough representation of the Bible in our society today and we don’t need more of it. If you really want to read that prayer in school, the best choice would be to go to a private school. This option tells me that I value equal representation/ respect for others and not so much religion. I also seem to value that everyone should feel included and not exiled for being different.

2. I value lots of this in the world such as freedom, equality, respect and tolerance. This shapes the way I think about the world by allowing me to keep an open mind to what others might be going through. I really respect the people who help keep Canada safe such as our police and military who help us keep our freedom. I also feel like we are making good strides towards equality for everyone, women in many countries are treated as equals to men, people are becoming more accepting of other cultures and many countries no longer discriminate against people who are different such as those who are in the LGBTQIA+ community. So, I think that per my values the world is becoming a better place for everyone.

3. One example of people who had conflicting values would be those who wanted segregation in the United States and those who were against segregation. Some believed that people should be separated by their culture and others realized that it was very unfair and oppressive, so they began to fight against segregation and the values behind it. A way for us all to live peacefully together is to respect everyone’s values even if you do not agree with them. You can also try to learn I bit about their values and then judge if you think they’re good or not. The most important bit thought is to know that values should all ways be respected and you still need to treat everyone kindly even if they don’t believe what you believe. Therefore, by teaching that in schools it could make people respect others values.

Jessica 1.) Out of the topics above the most important to me would be NOT to bring back the lord`s prayer in Manitoba schools. It’s the most important to me because I believe that everyone should be able to belief in what ever they want to. If they were allowed to read the lord`s bible Manitoba would not be known as a multicultural society. This tells me that some important values to me would be freedom to your own religion, respect, and equality.2.) Some of my values would be freedom, respect, equality, trust, love, and family. This shapes the way I think about the world in many different ways, such as I respect people who put there lives out there instead of mine, and everyone beliefs in different religions and I am ok with that. Every woman should be just as equal as men, and everyone should have family and love. You should have freedom to religion, speech, vote, and all rights. 3.) An example of people having competing values would be when there were residential schools. They were trying to erase the aboriginal peoples values by taking them to these schools and teaching them the Canadian culture and religion. We can help people with different values to live together peacefully by respecting each other and their values. You can also not judge each other.

1. Out of all the topics above, the most important one to me is abortion not being allowed in Canada. It is important to me because I am a female and if I ever get into that kind of situation and I’m not ready I would like to think that abortion can be one of my options. Not just me, so many females out there and all have different options on this topic. Some might not want kids in general and some just might not be ready. There’s also women out there who can’t afford having kids but they’ll do anything for their kids, like stealing and robbing banks just to provide for them. It could and will lower the criminal rate. This shows that I value rights, freedom and respect for women. It also shows that I value freedom, being able to have various options and choices.

2. Some things I value in this world is freedom, respect, loyalty, and love. I’m thankful to have as much freedom as I do here in Canada thanks to the Canadian military and the police force. Everyone should be respected and not be treated differently based on their color of skin, IQ or their size and shape. Everyone should be treated equally, treat people how you want to be treated. I also think loyalty is very important because lying gets you no were in life and people always end up finding out the truth so you might as well save yourself some time and tell the truth. Everyone should be loved, whether it’s family or friends. Everyone should have someone there for them, supporting them through the tough and just making life better in general. Life gets way easier when you’re laughing and being positive with a smile on your face.

3. An example of people having competing values would be WWII. Hitler and others tried destroying the Jewish culture. He also didn’t like anyone who was different, for example, someone in a wheelchair, with a disability or even wearing glasses. He only wanted to keep people with blue eyes and blonde hair. We can help people with different values live together peacefully by taking advantage of different people. For example, someone who knows how to speak French can teach someone who can only speak Spanish. Or as simple as someone teaching others an Aboriginal dish that was passed down generation to generation. Different is good because if everyone was the exact same, the world would be a boring place.

It can also affect me since I’m female but I hope I’m not going to be in that situation. And if women don’t have a choice then there would be problems like stealing or robbing for them because they would do anything to take care of their children. How does this shape the way you think about the world and what’s happening in it?
•What I value in the world is equality, kindness, love, and respect. For equality, I think that everyone should be equal no matter what gender, color of skin, or what background they have. And for kindness I think that you should be kind to others around you even if you don’t know them. For the last two which is love and respect, I think that everybody should receive love and feeling of acceptance either from your friends or family. And for the last one which is respect, I respect those who risks their lives for the safety for the people an example would be police officers.

3. Can you think of an example of people having competing values, which has led to conflict? What can we do to help people with differing values to live together peacefully?
•An example of people having competing values would be on social media. What I’ve witnessed on sites like Instagram and other websites are that there are lots of conflicts between people. Either the conflicts are from lots of people having different opinions on something or just sharing what their thoughts are.

•What we can do to live peacefully together is to respect others and their values. Everyone around us has different values and if we respect that then we would live peacefully and not have any conflicts and problems. Even if you don’t agree with their values at least be respectful and try to learn more about their values, keep an open mind. We should not judge them for what they value instead we should try to understand each other to get a better understanding between people. And so, teaching people at schools can make people respect other values.

1. In my opinion, the most important topic is about bringing back The Lord’s Prayer in Manitoba schools. The reason is because our society today seems to be getting worse and slowly falling apart, as we can see from news around the world. People don’t seem to realize that the Lord’s way of living is a happy way of living because the Bible isn’t just a sentimental religion, it’s the foundation of all knowledge. Whether about science, health, family relations, government, history etc. If you are guided with the true knowledge, you will become happy. My opinion shows that I value happiness, especially toward family because families are the back bone of society. If families are broken, the society breaks as well. Sources say that children raised by married parents are more than twice as likely to move up the economic scale than children with a single parent.

2. Right now, as we can see, this world is filled with problems like wars, famine, poverty, sufferings, unparalleled natural disasters, terrorism, racism, etc. For me, the cause of all these problems is because most humans nowadays lack spiritual character. So, what I value most in this world is building spiritual character. As General Douglas McArthur said “the problem of human beings basically is theological and involves a spiritual deterioration, unimproved of human character… it must be of the spirit if we are to save the flesh.” He was stating that human survival depended in human character! So, in MY belief, the only solution for these problems is to grow in spiritual character by turning ourselves to God.

3. Currently in some parts of America, there are conflicts between white and black people because they have competing values which leads to race wars, riots, different kind of violence and lawlessness.

I can help people that have different values by being a role model to them. By showing selfless love and respect to all human race. For me selfless love is thinking about others welfare before ourselves. This is what our world needs today.

1. Out of the topics above, the most important to me is abortion being legalised in Canada because every woman has the right to do whatever she wants with her body and nobody has the right to tell her what to do what not to do because it is her body. Sometimes when most people want to abort because they are not ready to have a baby yet why allow a baby to be born and then suffer from poverty, rejection after this is not nice and most people that want to abort were either raped or had sex out of curiosity and did not think about the consequences. Instead of passing a bill that abortion should not be allowed the government should do something about the rate at which young girls even adults are being raped and they should also include sex education to the school curriculum especially high school students who are eager to have boyfriends/girlfriends so they know what is right and what is wrong and that sex is only meant for married couples alone and not for teens to experiment on. I think parents should also try to cautions their wards more maybe because parents are not allowed to flog or hit their kids that is why most north American kids do what they like anytime they want. In my country were am from u dare not tell ur mom u have a boyfriend while in high school she will beat the living day light out of you not to talk of being pregnant if u ever happen to be pregnant do not think of coming home because ur going to die if this kind of disciple is put on north American kids I feel not legalizing abortion will not be necessary because less people will want to abort kids.
2. What I value in the world is Kindness, love respect and equality
I think that everyone should be treated equally and nobody should be above anybody and people should not look down on anyone cause God can lift anyone up and bring anyone down at his own time and will.
Respect; always show respect to people around you whether seniors or juniors because if you respect other people. people will respect you.
Love always show love to anybody you should do unto others what you want them to do to you love is what brings the world together love your neighbor as your self. I think if everybody else values the things I have listed there will be peace in the world today.
3. An example of people competing values will be in my country(Nigeria) between the rich and the poor an average rich Nigerian man has at least 4 cars, 3 houses, a huge bank account . While a very rich Nigerian man has at least 8 cars, a house in every big city in the country, 2 private jets, etc while an average Nigerian man who has a decent job has 2 cars, 2 houses and travels every summer this kind of life style is very common and is what is seen as normal in Nigeria meanwhile there are people, young children suffering and begging on the streets. poor peoples kids cant afford to go to public school because u have to pay some money to go there not to talk of going to a private school an average Nigerian private school is 500,000 naira a term which is=5500$ a semester and the most expensive school in Nigeria they pay in pounds and their fee is 40,000 pounds a semester that is very expensive but that is what is considered normal in Nigeria if you go to a public school people see you as worthless every parents wants to brag about their child going to a very expensive school and this is creating conflict among people because people are measuring up to other peoples wealth especially people into politics an average Nigerian senator earns way more than Obama they get allowance for everything, wardrobe allowance, car, house everything they are the ones that send their kids to the most expensive school in the country and some even go outside the country.5 in every10 average Nigerian goes to Dubai at least every year I find this ridiculous. cause they are poor people out there . When I was there we had 2 maids, a driver, a gateman, and a chef it was a luxurious life but they are people who are poor and suffering and no rich man or woman wants to help I think if we all come together to help each other they will not be conflict between the groups of people because the poor are not poor because they chose to be and the rich are not rich cause its by their power or might but by the grace of God.

1.)Being a female, I think that the most important topic is not being able to get an abortion. I feel this way because if I were to ever become pregnant at a bad time or situation I would want abortion to be an option for me if I choose to go down that path. I think that abortion is a very important topic for many reasons, one includes a situation where if I were to be ill, or have major health issues, I would be putting myself and the baby at risk if I were to not get an abortion. Also if there were to be a case on the strong content, rape, then the female victim should have the right to get an abortion, because it is the individuals’ body, and they should be able to choose to get an abortion. Another reason I think that abortion should stay legal is because some people just can’t raise a child in their family for reasons like money (not enough), government (government may have rules that limit the amount of children allowed in the country), lifestyle (may be living in poor conditions/ dangerous for a child), social relationships (female might be pregnant with someone from a done relationship or might be pregnant by accident/don’t have support from others like family & friends), and the environment (might be dangerous environment-war, climate etc.). These statements defending abortion tell me that I value life, family, friends, love, freedom and rights.

2.) I value rights, freedom, love, friends & family, and life. These values shape the way I think about the world and what’s happening in it because I think that Canada has come a long way from all the racism, discrimination, lack of freedom, and many other things that used to be in Canada. Canada is now a free country where anyone of any nationality, gender, age, and religion can love anyone, can work almost anywhere, travel almost anywhere, practice any religion, speak any language, eat any food, have the right to vote, to dress in any way, and have many human rights. The world is changing to be better, and I can see that because of the things I value.

3.)There have been many cases where people with competing values and opinions led to conflict. For example, some people think that abortion is wrong, because they consider it as murder, and they don’t think that people should be given the choice to stop the development of a potential human being. On the other hand, other people think that females should be able to choose what happens inside their bodies and that they should have abortion as one of their options because of many issues like listed in paragraph 1. Personally, I am not sure how this issue could be solved, but it might become less of a problem if females are only not allowed to get an abortion when their reason for abortion has no reason or thought behind it. An example could include, the gender of the baby, or the nationality of the baby.

1. Out of the topics above, which is most important to you? Why? What does this tell you about what you value?

1. Of the issues listed above, the most important to me is that is that there should be no censorship in video games or movies. These censorships put a cap on what we can joke about, represent and talk about. I understand that people want to be politically correct, but censoring certain things is a very subjective line. What exactly is inappropriate to joke about? What qualifies as ‘more important’ then other things? The line can’t be drawn without bias and therefore, retaliation. My philosophy on this subject is that either everything should be ok to make fun of, or nothing is. I value the very foundation of our country, the freedom of speech, and how it should be non-negotiable. There is no room for censorship in the media, it should be honest. If we want people to form their own opinions, based on fact, we must expose them to everything, even if it represents a point of view that you don’t agree with, or makes fun of something you like.

2. What do you value in the world? How does this shape the way you think about the world and what’s happening in it?

2. I value a few different things, but I think that the most important is that I believe in unity. As a well organised and strategic country, we could accomplish anything. But, when we let political and religious differences divide us, we let ourselves seem weak and inferior. We can’t let things like political parties and co-operation stand in the way of our government, when we can accomplish so much more as one entity and one country as one!

I think that my perspective affects how I see the world in one large way. I can see a problem with democracy itself, the idea of having to comply to rules and being impeded by other parties. Compromise and diplomacy can greatly slow down the passing of laws and bills, if not stopping them all together! Corruption and party loyalty run rampant in all governments, from the senate to MLA’s. I see all these problems down in the States, and it is greatly distressing. If they were more motivated and more organised, they could easily impeach or stop Donald Trump, but instead they try to peacefully protest and over all make a scene. At this point, the USA is an international laughingstock.

3. Can you think of an example of people having competing values, which has led to conflict? What can we do to help people with differing values to live together peacefully?

3. Competing values are everywhere in history; every war is essentially just opposing values that lead to violence. People disagree, and people fight, and people die because of it. It’s just the natural order of humanity. Diplomacy always eventually dissipates into disagreement. But when people stop having opposing views, or place them aside, they can live in peace, free of argument or violence. This brings me back to my earlier point of unity, and how it is essentially the easiest and only way to create peace. With differing opinions, there is always the need to defend your opinion, or your idol. Genocide, war, segregation and extermination are all after effects of division, of being different and being weaker.

1. Out of the topics above, which is most important to you? Why? What does this tell you about what you value?
Ans: Out of the all topics listed the one that I feel is the most important to me is we should NOT bring back The Lord’s Prayer in Manitoba schools. I think everyone has a right to believe in what they believe in and no one has a right to change it. Canada is called the multicultural country because in Canada we have a right to believe in what religion we believe in also Canada wouldn’t be called the multicultural country if the Canadian people would force students to learn their religion or read their bible. Canada is not that kind of the country Canada is called the multicultural country because we welcomed people from every culture and also respect their culture.

2. What do you value in the world? How does this shape the way you think about the world and what’s happening in it?

Ans: Some of the values I think would be Equality, Freedom, respect, trust, and Honest. This shapes the way I think about the world in many ways such as every person should be equal one another, everyone should have a full freedom to their culture, religion, all rights and no one should has any problem with that, respect your adults and everyone who are around you and the aren’t with you anymore etc.

3. Can you think of an example of people having competing values, which has led to conflict? What can we do to help people with differing values to live together peacefully?

Ans: An example of people having competing values I could thing of is the residential schools because people were trying to remove the Aboriginal people’s values and their cultures by putting the children’s into the residential schools and teaching them the Canadian and Europeans culture and religion ex. Dressing, teaching, English and French etc. we can help people with different values to live together peacefully by respecting each other and their ways of living and believing in their own religion, culture etc. and also the equal right by everyone should have the equal and same right as the other person.
