The Assistance of Inside Out is Bing Bong is Riley's mentor because he gets Riley through situations and is her friend. While Joy and Sadness are looking for Riley's memories they run into Bing Bong who was Riley's imaginary friend when she was younger. He suggests a dangerous shortcut called Abstract Thought.

Departure

The Departure of Inside out was Joy and Sadness being forced out of the headquarters. This was because all core memories were ejected out of headquarters, along with Joy and Sadness. They start a journey by going to search for the core memories and try to get back to headquarters.

Crisis

The Crisis of Inside Out is when Bing Bong, Joy, and Sadness get caught in the Memory dump. This was the most challenging part and where they faced death because they couldn't get out. As well as, in the real world Riley was loosing more and more control since Joy and Sadness were gone.

Approach

The Approach of Inside Out was when Joy and Bing Bong fall into the forgotten memories and cannot get out. This is also when Joy realizes the importance of sadness in Riley's life

Call to Action

Sadness just wants to be included and starts to mess with Riley's memories, unaware of the way she is changing them. Joy doesn't want this to happen and attempts to stop her. This represents the Call to Action because Joy's goal is to keep Riley happy and Sadness is getting in the way of that.

Return

The Return is when Joy and Sadness use the trampoline to bounce and propelled towards the headquarter windows. Once Joy and Sadness are back in the headquarters Riley is already on the bus, but Joy took back control and was able to get her off the bus. The only thing left was in the Real world where Riley had to go home and make up with her parents.

Result

The Result of Inside Out is where Riley returns home to her parents and breaks down in tears, confessing that she misses Minnesota and her parents comfort her, and tell her that they also miss Minnesota. Joy and Sadness work the console together, creating a new core memory that combines their emotions and creating a new island forms representing Riley's acceptance of her new life in San Francisco. This shows Riley making her transition back into her old life.

Trials

Riley falls asleep and Joy and Sadness have to try and scare Riley out of her sleep. They get arrested because they are getting in the way and have to find a way to escape. These are the trials because they obstruct them from helping Riley.

Joy and Sadness return to headquarters, only to find out what Riley is doing and reclaim dominance over her brain. When they do, she has a change of heart and decides to get off the bus, go home, and repair her relationship with her parents. This is the reward because it is what the emotions wanted all along.

New Life

Finally, Riley has made new friends and hobbies that she loves. All of the emotions now work together, knowing that a balance is needed and they all need to be felt. This is the New Life because she finally understands the way things should be.

The Resolution of Inside Out is that Riley now lives a more emotionally complex life and realizes that she needs sadness in her life in order to bring in the Joy.
