-PTSD is relevant to the story we are reading because there is plenty of evidence that points towards Billy Pilgrim having experiencing the symptoms of PTSD.
-Billy gets nightmares when he falls asleep, he is also easily triggered and can believe unrealistic things are happening when they are not.
-Billy’s abduction by the Tralfamadorians also seems to be heavily influenced by past events in the book, also leading us to believe it was all just going on inside his own head.
-PTSD is relevant because it is essentially what causes Billy to “time travel”.

How PTSD affects the victims?

-Victims of PTSD see the world in a dramatically different way than others without PTSD.
-Victims feel experience many symptoms that affect their daily lives. Many people avoid places, events or objects that remind them of the traumatic experience. For example, if someone is in a car crash they might avoid driving in a car, or the location of the crash.
-These victims can also be easily startled, experience angry outbursts, and feeling tense or more specifically “on edge”. In addition, many people can experience feelings of guilt or blame, and loss of interest in enjoyable activities.
Furthermore, the most dangerous symptom is negative thoughts on about oneself on the world. These thoughts can often lead to suicide, if left untreated.

- Situations where war veterans experience PTSD would be when they remember certain injuries, deaths and psychological distress of people in the field. Also when it is the anniversary of a certain time of a traumatic event would lead to having an even more stressful event for them which could lead to guilt and a hard time for others to talk to friends and/or family members. Also with anniversaries arriving can lead to troubles like trying to sleep and eat during the day and night.
