Should schools offer bring your own technology (BYOT)?

This informative video details how far technology has evolved throughout the years. It also broaches the idea of BYOT and what that would look like in schools. My school has implemented the BYOT initiative. I find it works amazing for my groups with the access readily available at any point in time.

Not everyone is as tech savvy as expected or required. According to an article written by Melissa Delaney, the following things are needed for training: teacher "buy in", meeting teachers at their comfort level and growing it, including admin in the training and collaboration, and bring coaches or specialists in to start the initiative.

What do we have?
In the district that I work, we have a technology resource teacher (TRT) at each school to assist teachers with anything focusing on technology. This ranges from what the district requires as well as the latest apps that will be beneficial to student learning and mastery.
