Welcome to Ecuador! Let me explain you a few things that you should know while you’re staying here: When you’re waiting for the bus and you see it is coming, you’re supposed to extend your arm and shake a little your hand, it is to let the driver know that you’re waiting for that bus. Also, when you didn’t listen well what someone said, you aren’t supposed to say “What?” You must say “Mande” It’s more polite. Something you’d be worried about it’s your location: if you get lost, you shouldn’t be worried, you’re supposed to ask any person that is walking through the street, that person will probably know. I would love you to visit Ambato during the “Carnaval” it’s beautiful but you should be careful because it’s a custom to throw cold water to any person you see. Actually, Cuenca it’s a good place for visiting, too. You can go to “El Centro Histórico”, if you go there, you’re expected to try some of their ice creams.
