The Fright that is needed to defeat the dark.

Their minds will hark at the solicitor’s coming.

Liberate the souls of all the prisoners

That the wardens here control, who are held as visitors!

The only way to do this is for you to be free!

Technology is a challenge to living out the transcendental tenets today because of the large prominence it retains in today’s society. Technology such as cars, televisions, computers, and telephones all impede the ability to live out the transcendental tenets. This impediment is found where cars cause most to prefer not to walk around in the world, which stops them from experiencing the world with all of their senses, no longer feeling the ground under their feet. The impediment found from televisions and computers is found in the prefered way of living: in front of televisions and computers, which in a way connects one to the outside world, but causes one to go outside and experience the world completely in a much lesser amount. Lastly telephones impede the ability to live transcendentally by radiating the illusion of connection by giving a way to talk to one’s peers. This illusion is impeding one’s ability by causing one to no longer want to walk to the person you want to talk to and connect naturally, rather promoting one to stay inside, “talking” with whomever one desires on the telephone. As a result of these technologies along with their prominence in our society, our ability to live transcendentally is impeded heavily.

The societal norms found in modern society all impede the ability to live out the transcendental tenets today, with technology doing this prominently. Technology does this by weakening our connection to nature and the macrocosm, causing us to rather stay indoors than to go outside and experience the world in its fullness.
