First Five includes gathering items in our takeout menu (notice visuals!!) and writing all our learning in our Raider Reminders. Remember boxes for items that must be turned in, bullets as a learning log. All of these components are in my Welcome Slides. I stamp each individual Raider Reminder while students prepare/begin their Do Now/Bellwork/Scholar Starter.

Welcome slide posted as students enter classroom. Students are expected to first get out supplies, then write in RR, then get out Chromebook (if required) and then finish the first five with the "after writing in RR..." Daily slides are posted in Canvas as well, with instructions for students who were absent. RR is checked periodically and stamped for participation points.

Homework and agenda are on the projector and I greet the kids and introduce the agenda and HW, they write that down in their RR, I go around and stamp RR. They earn points for each stamp. When the points are added into Synergy, they get one extra point per week (this also allows them to get full credit if they are absent. If they are absent the week, I excuse the points for that week)

I don't have a ton of white board space in my classroom, so I no longer have a formal homework board. Our class Daily Agenda slide deck is projected during class time and embedded on Canvas for students and their grown-ups to access. We take the time at the start of each class to fill in our Raider Reminders together as a class. I then walk around the classroom and stamp student RRs when they are filled in correctly.

As the period begins, student preview the quick write prompt before the class starts. This allows for the necessary "Think Time" The prompt is up on the board as they enter - the established routine being to grab the writing journal and taking out the Raider Reminder as they enter the classroom everyday.

I post quizzes/tests on side board and on canvas way ahead of time. I do give the homework at the END of each lesson so they actually work on the lesson during class instead of the homework...which they don't know how to do yet. My Canvas Calendar is loaded with everything we did in class: labsheets, class notes, worksheets, homework. It's a one-stop-shop for all.

This is the HW/Agenda board that is in my classroom. The students know that if there is a box next to the item it is homework. If there is a dot next to the task, it is something we will be doing in class, but will not become homework. Students fill this out during first 5 daily in their Raider Reminders. As the teacher, I stamp the Raider Reminders to make sure they have written down their daily agendas.
