MTSS “[Endorses] Universal Design for Learning instructional strategies so all students have opportunities for learning through differentiated content, processes, and product.” The quote explains California's vision of support for students by outlining that all students receive instruction that is most beneficial to them as individuals. Providing support for students based on their academic needs and abilities allows students to progress at rates that are more specific to them. Doing so also creates opportunities for students at various levels to be part of educational spaces receptive to their abilities, which increases the quality of education they receive. When more students can understand the information delivered to them, this creates greater possibilities for improvement for all students at various levels.

“Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) provides a basis for understanding how California educators can work together to ensure equitable access and opportunity for all students to achieve the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).”

The California Department of Education is guiding educators and students alike as their work is goal-oriented. Students are prioritized just as educators are with differing goals in mind. An equitable approach is taken to creation of environment for students and teachers. If teachers are not poured into, how must we expect them to pour out indefinitely to vastly diverse student populations with needs that vary as much as their backgrounds? May we be the generation of 21st century educators to prioritize our learning just as much as that of our students with the MTSS at the core of our teaching philosophies.
