He wrote poems, plays and novels, including Baltasar and Bimunda and The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis. His novel Blindness was made into a film in 2008.

He was a first basquetball portuguese player to play in the NBA. 
He dribbled for the first time in his 10 years old ; he started in FC Barreirense where he played in the 2016/2017 season. In the 2017/2018 season , he played for SL Benfica , he playing 29 games in the B team that competes in the Portuguese Basqueteball League.
At this moment he plays in the Sacramento Kings.
