The name of "Elena Cuza" was chosen in 1909 by the school’s principal- Smaranda Celarianu. Elena Cuza was Alexandru Ioan Cuza’s wife, the ruler who created the basis of the modern state through the unification of the Romanian Principalities. (January 24^th 1859).

  Our school has been a regional center for supporting students’ language certification for many years- French (DELF, DALF), German (DSD), and from 2014, for English (IELTS) as well. 

 The knowledge of foreign languages of international circulation is a foremost necessity for an European social dialogue and a good communication, on the whole. 
 Our school has specializations that provide this request:classes with bilingual and intensive teaching of modern languages: English, French, German and Spanish;

·       participation in European education programs (Comenius, Grundtvig, Study Visit, eTwinning);

·       participation in volunteer programs;

·       providing native speakers of English, French, Spanish and German to bilingual classes;

 The school is also licensed as an ECDL Exam Center - students have the chance to obtain the European Computer Driving License. 

We want to carry on the tradition of European projects, this involvement coming with benefits for both students and teachers.

Among the objectives and priorities of our school regarding the European activities, we can mention:

·       the improvement of foreign language teaching;

·       the development of teamwork skills;

·       exchange of linguistic and cultural knowledge with other partner countries;

·       the acquaintance with new information and communication technologies;

·       highlighting the role of the Internet in teaching and learning languages and other subjects.
