Octavia Butler didn't wanna just leave and finish off her life with her own legacy, but she wanted to extend it to other people that wrote and could relate. She taught them heavily with her writing; including a lesson/idea lead by change. It's kind of like you are the center of all the changes around you, you are the cause, or they are the cause of changes within yourself. Also its crazy how she predicted the pandemic.

She understood that the future is the product of the past no matter how much a person would want it to change. Also legacy wise, it's a common story that is almost slept on when people say that people with legacy's started off struggling with their craft. Most people remember them for the greats, but behind the great things accomplished there's always the journey getting to the point. Generally, she shared a lot of life experiences through her books that weren't shared so much in her time.
