I believe this because they're expressing how they feel towards the hardship African Americans go through, such as police brutality. According to the Washingtonpost.com 223 Afrian Americans were shot and killed by the police. The NFL players are standing up for what they belive in and the First Admendment is freedom of sppech. I don't see anything wrong with what they're doing in my opinion. Some of the NFL players deal with the harship first hand, and without being violent this is the only way they can show people how they feel.
