As a network we are really struggling with due diligence and timesheets. The admin burden to community collaborators is too great and I have lost one partner due to the burden of the process. The process does not seem to have any accessible options. It creates a barrier to participation and makes research collaboration a burden

The thematic emphasis on Policy and Advocacy within the disability and inclusion research agenda depicts the relationship between socio-political dimensions and the lived experiences of individuals with disabilities across continents. This theme reflects a commitment to understanding, critiquing, and advancing policies that directly shape the inclusivity and well-being of disabled communities. This involves going beyond the textual analysis of policies to explore how they are implemented, interpreted, and experienced on the ground. As researchers, we need to systematically analyze the contextual factors that influence various disability policy outcomes that affect persons with disabilities, providing insights into how policies can be tailored for maximum inclusivity. We need to authentically explore how various disability policies intersect with other social constructs, such as race, gender, and socioeconomic status. Our authenticity in policy and advocacy research involves employing robust methodologies that capture the complexity of socio-political dynamics. This implies that we could navigate the challenges of data collection, ensuring that the voices of individuals with disabilities are prioritized; which in turn will enable us to draw reliable conclusions and offer evidence-based recommendations for policy improvements - Racheal Inegbedion

When engaging in emerging arts and humanities research agendas in the disability and inclusion arena, a consideration of the long-term impact on the disabled community is imperative. This extends beyond the immediate findings of the research and delves into the broader implications for positive change, policy development, and societal attitudes.

This carefully involves recognizing the multifaceted nature of the disability and understanding that the impact of research may vary across different subgroups within the disabled community. It requires sensitivity to the historical, cultural, and socio-economic contexts that shape the experiences of individuals with disabilities.

As researchers, we must learn to go beyond a simplistic evaluation of outcomes and delve into the nitty-gritty of how our work contributes to the larger narrative of disability inclusion. Assessing long-term impact also demands an awareness of the potential unintended consequences of the research.

We must consider how our findings might be interpreted, applied, or misused in different contexts. This perspective ensures that the research contributes positively to the lives of individuals with disabilities without reinforcing stereotypes, stigmas, or marginalization.

Impact assessments serve as a tool for accountability. We could transparently demonstrate how the research has contributed to positive change, informed policy development, or shifted societal attitudes. This accountability is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the research process and ensuring that the goals of promoting emerging arts and humanities research agendas in disability and inclusion are met. - Racheal Inegbedion.
