I’m thinking of filming a documentary for my final project, that evolves around the theme of separation - in the context of moving away from our family (From Poland to UK) and how that strained our contact as well as our relationships with our family who’s back home. This would be done by primarily focusing on my grandparents and other immediate family members narratives/ perspectives (which would be done by having sit down interviews with them or something similar),on how our move has impacted not only their lives but ours as well and how we all find ways to stay connected with each other AND our traditions, despite being separated by distance…

This would allow me to gain an insight to the whole event and how our family really felt (true emotions etc.) as this topic isn’t fairly talked about with our family and over the years I’ve heard some snippets of the reason/ story but never had a full on sit down talk about it, so therefore, I think this would be interesting to understand more on just how much this has impacted everyone. Not only short term but long term. And to maybe learn something new which I haven’t heard being said before.

I would also like to include my parents narrative/perspectives on this subject (sit down interviews) and to find out what they do, so that we keep up our traditions, contact and relationships with our family back home in Poland. And to gain an insight to their true emotions and feelings about our move - how that strained their relationships with their own parents, siblings, friends etc etc.

I'm thinking i'd like to potentially get involved in a documentary as it's something a bit different to what i'd normally do with being a journalist, if anyone is interested in documentary. I've never made one or been involved in one before.
I love documentaries, especially those by the likes of Louis Theroux amongst others as I find these really interesting and learning something from them is always great.

So something in a similar style to that would be interesting. I don't have any ideas of yet but would be willing to work with new people and learn a few new things as I go. Perhaps skills I have picked up along the way in Journalism may be of help for interviews etc.

I'd be willing to present on one and help out in perhaps writing scripts etc. But i'm not as strong on the production side of things such as camera/lighting work, editing etc.

Alternatively another idea I have is to produce something radio/podcast based as I found radio really interesting, especially presenting and finding stories for the radio shows.

I have a very rough idea, I was going along the lines of a podcast maybe a drunk podcast like ‘Saving Grace’ but then also started thinking of the James Corden Carpool Karaokes. Everyone knows you can get into all sorts of weird and wonderful convos in the car so thought of a filmed podcast in the car on a road trip. Maybe bring in an influencer or something, Q&A, story times etc. Rig the car with cameras, mics and go pros. It’s quite a loose idea at the moment but that’s why I’m going with.

I would like to make a documentary for my final project- This is a project quite important to me and something i have wanted to do for a while.

I have been working alongside an organisation in South Africa called FightBack. They teach women and young girls in townships and poorer areas of South Africa self-defense lessons. They also go into schools to teach sessions.
I want to film them for a year, the sessions, meetings that take place, fundraisers and keep up with everything they do. The filming has already started, and I have already done filming's of meeting taking place via teams and in person. I've had in depth meetings with the founders of the organisation that have been filmed and I am looking at travelling to South Africa this year and early next year to carry on filming.

I would like to do interviews with the women who come to the sessions and get their stories as a lot of the women have unfortunately been victims of gender-based violence. I want to look in depth at how gender-based violence has taken over the country and how South African women's daily lives have been affected and how organisations like this have to be created as the police and government do nothing to protect women.

I believe this is an important topic to cover as I don't think third world countries issues hit Western media enough and nothing is done to help. Gender-based violence is also something that affects women all over the world and unfortunately South Africa has the highest rate in the world with a woman being killed every 3 hours
South Africa also has the 4th highest death rate from interpersonal violence, of 183 countries considered which is the highest rate outside a war zone

I was thinking about talking to other organisations that help the victims who have been through it, but I don't know if it will be too much or if I will have enough time as my focus has mainly been on FightBack for the last year already.

Filming and directing will be done by myself but I will look to bring an editor in as editing isn't my strong suit. The person who edits with need to be comfortable with some of the content as some of it will be rather upsetting and sensitive.

I will also maybe need one or two other camera operators to help with some of the filming.

I am thinking about doing a website for advertising my local milkman. I will include price list, contact details as well as 'small' advertisements of different milks (in the style of a TV advert). I intend to film a short documentary to show why using the local business is important- with this I intend to focus on the use of electric milk floats for the environment.
My idea still definitely needs work, but I've got the basics of what I'd like to include.

I am thinking about making a documentary about Lego, which is a project that I have been wanting to make for a while. It will start off at the time that Lego was first invented, to where it is now and how it became the world's most successful toy company.

The documentary will feature subjects such as:

1. The history of Lego: Where did it begin, who invented it

2. The expansion of Lego: This will look at the different themes that the company have created

3. How was the Lego company affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

The documentary will also feature interviews with local shops (York and Selby), and it will feature interviews with people who are big fans of Lego.

I’m thinking of doing a documentary on the topic of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), looking at the impact it has on people’s lives. Also the main aim being to spread awareness and educate people on the illness.

I will be looking into the process of diagnosis, how people are diagnosed and helped. Looking at potential charities and services available in the uk. Also looking at the ways help is received and behaviours towards the disorder.

I’m hoping to use interviews as my main part of the documentary. Getting different points of view on the topic (people with and without the condition e.g family members of a diagnosed person).

I am thinking of producing a magazine with a title along the lines of 'The Good Stuff'.

I have always been frustrated with the news and journalism as a whole as it focusses so much on the bad things happening in the world. They tell us people are dying, the planet is dying, animals are dying and blah blah, but when you do research you do find out that things aren't as bad as they seem.

I would like to get interviews with professionals and do different stories regarding things like: the ozone layer no longer has holes in it, there are now retirement homes for bees in the UK, the once endangered Amur Tiger is now thriving again, etc, etc.

I feel a magazine like this would give people hope and encourage them to actually read about what is going on in the world, rather than avoiding the news knowing it is going to be depressing.

I'm going to do a podcast involving interviewing reputable chefs working in the industry, and it would be a weekly series, having a different chef on the show each time. The podcast will delve into the world of food, from the chef's favourite dish to cook, dramatic stories to tell whilst working in the kitchen and pieces of advice for aspiring/ upcoming chef's. I want to combine two areas that I have a passion in- podcasts and food, and bring them together to create an engaging, informative, inspiring, educational, create an emotional response from the target audience/ listener and also to encourage people to get into cooking. I also feel having different chefs on the show and having them share their own personal story in the industry would be interesting to see how what they say compares to one another, and also if there are similarities that they have encountered in their work. I feel my USP for this series is the insight that the chef will provide, and the information and stories that they will share would be hard to come by otherwise. The bulk of the podcast will be the interview, but will also have appropriate background music, narration and intro/ outro. I feel that this podcast will appeal to many people,- none more so that 'foodies', but I aim to attract more than just this category of people. I believe it can be a podcast for all (young aspiring chef's, foodies, older people, people who are curious and are wanting to get into cooking), because at the end of the day we couldn't do without food, and I think it can appeal to everyone for different reasons.
