Spain is located in Europe and has a lot of cool things about it. There are 2 main languages spoken in Spain, English and Spanish, Spanish more than English though, it's population is roughly 47.78 million people, and the flag has 2 red stripes, 1 yellow stripe in the middle, and a crest on the left side of the yellow stripe, the flag was created in 1785 after King Charles III decided it needed a country flag that was distinguishable for other flags. Spain is also peninsula country that is bordering France, and isn't quite bordering but is close to Morocco and Algeria.

Spain has a lot of interesting things going on in it a lot of the time but some are more fun to here about than others, and now I'm going to tell you about the current events happening in Spain all in 2024. Such as the new minimum wage for professional workers has been increased from €1,080 to €1,134, and there has been new immigration regulations and some new rules with visa's, also relating to that there is a new question manual for the CCSE citizenship exam, which is a very necessary exam to become a citizen in Spain. New healthcare rules have been added to, such as simplifying and eliminating obstacles for abortion care, and established a health and climate change observatory to study the impacts of extreme heat and improve emergency care so that is some very good news, especially with all the climate change and the temperatures rising recently. Spanish Traditions

Spain has a lot of traditions in the country that are all very fun but there is too many to cover so I will just talk about the most common ones for the country such as the Seville fair, the Valencia Fallas, the Semana Santa, and the Fiesta de San Isidro. We are going to start with the one I think I would like most, the Seville fair, which is a big fair that happens in Seville once every year between the beginning of April and late May which is 2 weeks before Semana Santa which is the easter week. At the Seville fair there is food rides, and it's basically like a fair in the U.S. but in Spain. Next is the holiday that comes very soon after the fair, and it is called Semana Santa, a holy week in Spain which is a tribute to the passion of Jesus Christ celebrated by Catholic religious Brotherhoods and fraternities that perform penance processions on almost every street of Spain for the whole holy week. Our next holiday is Valencia Fallas, which is a holiday that celebrates Saint Joseph, it takes place in the city of Valencia, Spain from March 15-19, while the Mascletà, a firework demonstration, takes place every day from March 1-19 to celebrate the holiday. The last but not least holiday in Spain that I will talk about is called Fiesta de San Isidro and it is a holiday that every year around may 15th Madrid honors its Patron Saint, San Isidro Labrador, and this holiday has tons of events such as concerts, shows, and endless activities for all ages for the whole day, sound pretty fun to me. What to do in Spain/Tourism

There are so many cool things to do while you are in Spain, and lots of things I would want to do while I was in Spain, lots of the food is very delicious, but that's for another time. Let's start off with something you should definitely do while you are in Spain, and something I wan to do really bad in Spain as well, the Basilica la Sagrada Familia, this Basilica began construction all the way back in 1882, and it is huge, the structure is 566 feet tall, and has 86111 square feet of space on the inside, the main material used in the cathedral is stone, and there is many stunning stained glass windows for you to look through while you are visiting. Another major thing to do in Spain while you are visiting is something I did when I was there, shopping and going tot he mall. Spain has tons of cute shops, name brand stores and massive malls scattered all throughout the country with the biggest mall being the Puerto Venecia, this huge dazzling mall boasts a huge 2,217,365 square feet of shopping space with is more than 20 times the size of the Basilica la Sagrada Familia, when I was in Spain I went to a mall that was pretty big, but this one would have been amazing. The next tourism attraction that I went to was absolutely amazing, and it was a place called the Alhambra, and it is a palace and fortress built in Spain in 1870 for protection, now when you go there is beautiful gardens, water fountains, and if you are lucky you can look over Granada, Spain from one of the many watch towers, and maybe even see some stray cats wandering through the palace. The last major tourist attraction I will tell you about is the main city, the capital of Spain, and its name is Madrid. In Madrid there are many fun things to do, such as you could eat at various delicious restraunts, watch some bullfighting, see beautiful architecture, and blow you bank with all the fun places to tour, shop at, and see. Spain's Food

In this paragraph I am going to talk about some of the best and most traditional foods in Spain which are a must try if you are considering visiting and want something very good to eat. The first food I am going to start out with is the one in the picture above and it is called paella, I had paella in Spain and it was very delicious, definitely worth a try, paella is a traditional rice dice usually contain seasoned rice as the base, you can get many different things on it such as chicken, or vegetables, but the most traditional way to eat it is with seafood on top, it is an important dish and very popular dish in Spain because it is a symbol of belonging to a family and the dish carries the important Spanish value of family in day to day life. Another really big food in Spain is something called Jamon, or it's long name Jamon Iberico, this food is a type of cured leg pork produced in Spain and Portugal in the Iberian Peninsula, and is considered a staple of both Spanish and Portuguese cuisine, it is quite pricey however with a leg of this ham being anywhere from $300 to $1,500, but usually it is eaten in very thin slices of non-cooked ham on a sandwich, charcuterie board, or you can just eat it by itself, it has a flavor that is much richer than prosciutto, and is very popular. Another traditional food in Spain is something called and Empanada, which I also had when I was in Spain a few months ago, and Empanada is like a pastry dough folded over like a calzone with many varieties of things inside, they usually have meat such as beef, spicy beef, chicken, and pork, but they can also have other things, such as veggies, and corn. The last food I am going to be sharing about with you from Spain is something called Gazpacho now Gazpacho is a kind of soup that is not like any other you may have heard of because it is eaten cold, now the base of this soup is raw blended vegetables that you could top with many things, sadly I did not have this dish in Spain, but I would have loved to. That is all I will be sharing about Spanish food today, there is so much more but not stuff that I will be talking about.

Spain's Music and Dance

There are lots of cool music and dance traditions that happen in Spain year round, such as flamenco dance and music and some other fun things. Flamenco is a traditional style of dance in Spain that involves a man and a woman, and there is usually a person playing the traditional flamenco music to go along with the dance too. The emphasis for both the male and woman dancer is very fast footwork and very precise moves, when I was in Spain, I watched some too, and those things are definitely true, and unlike the show I saw, the dancers sometimes have props, such as fans and canes, that they have to dance with throughout the show. Next is music, the most traditional types of music in Spain are thigs such as flamenco music as mentioned earlier, and Spanish classical music, and some of the most popular artists are Alejandro Sanz, Rosalia, and Aitana, who are all very big music artists in Spain. Comparisons and thoughts

So throughout this whole project I have been higlighting the parts of Spain that I researched with some of my expieriences going there in 8th grade, and just rephrasing that information and putting it down on this presentation, but this one is different, I am going to share my opinion on Spain and compare it to my expieriences and ways of life living here in the U.S. Lving in the U.S. we definetly have our share of unique foods, such as deep fried nutella, or a whole deep fried piece oof cheesecake on a stick, or some more traditional options such as an American breakfest, or a buger and fries, Spain is different though, their traditional food are a lot more seasoned, and a lot more healthy, such as paella which is just rice, seasoning, rice, and seafood which if you ask about anyone, they will say that is much better for you, and I say it tastes much better too. Some of the more cultural aspects are things such as football here, which Spain does not have, their big sport is soccer, which they call football. Personally this doesn't change my opinion on anything because I don't really care for any sports no matter what they are. Another thing that makes Spain even better is the beutiful architecture, I mean theres no huge castles with expansive cities just sitting around in the U.S., is there? This would make me want to go bac even more because I would love to see traditional Madrid architecture while I was walking to work, or just simply getting a coffee, in Tucson the only thing I see when getting a coffee is someone smoking down the corner, and maybe a car crash or two. Some things that would deter me from Spain is one, it seems as though everyone and their mother smokes, and it usually smells like cigarettes, which is kind of gross, but worth it for the city views, also I just want to live in a big city, also in Spain their are tons of small shops, and tons of cool cafes, and restraunts that would never be found here in the U.S. Overall, I would love to live in Spain, because of all the things I could entertain myself with, but as of now, I am quite happy where I am, but nevertheless, Spain is an amazing country, and I would love to go back.
