Walt Whitman's poem O Me! O Life! evoked a substantial feeling of responsibility out of me. In his explanation of how life is overflowing with dullness, he provided me with the feeling that the world is lackluster and people live without any feeling of purpose. He later provided a quite simple answer: existence itself. Whitman says life is play and each human can give their own verse. This urged me into realization that I can have a contribution to life as well and bequeathed me with this notion of human purpose being their contribution to life. This connects to the ideas of Transcendentalism because it urges people to seek their own truth and meaning as an offering to the world; a "verse" to this "play."

Through my existence, I will provide as much as possible in contribution to this world. I will give perception and listen to all that anyone has to say, truly feeling their different views. I will give knowledge, sharing any intellect I possibly can to help people who need advice. I will give aspiration by urging people to find their own verse to give to the world and provide optimism to bring people up. With these three offerings, I hope to have an amazing effect on this play of life, and keep the story entertaining.
