We need to simplify the lessons we present to our students, structured and scaffolded learning is necessary. We also need to make real world connection that are relevant to our learner. Fostering genuine connection with learners is the FIRST thing we should do!

We agreed that through the 25th of March(for example) which reminds us of our flag, our freedom(commoness), our national independence, our songs , etc ...although kids might feel very much away from it and far away from the language of it...the automatic repetitive nature of the celebration brings inside each child the seed for 10 different levels of connectedness,
explanation will come when one asks...
Repetition of things sometimes IS there so that the other party becomes involved...
It's like dancing, I can invite you to dance with me, but you have to accept and take a step towards me toooooo

In order for children to attend school, there needs to be motivation. A great relationship between children, parents and teacher is very important and makes a difference.

A reason to learn Greek is to speak with other family members, the cultural food, multi-literacy.

At home there needs to be a supply of books, videos, songs, pictures of each decade and explain the history behind it.

Provide first hand experiences and having conversations on similarities and differences between Greece and Canada.

1. Teachers need to adapt to the students' current interests and needs in order to create lessons that are relevant and keep them motivated
2. Same thing should be happening at home as well. The educational system can only go that far
3. We have seen so many advancements in every other aspect of our lives, however education has remained the same throughout the years with no progress or valuable change. If not for the pandemic, the way we teach Greek would not have changed.
4. We need to give our students a reason to learn; a better reason than just everyone else who is Greek is doing the same. This mentality starts from home but unfortunately continues in the school as well
