Task 1:

Orientation:

Okay so, last holiday in December 2019, Karina went to her hometown in Ciamis with her big family. They traveled by car on the 20th of December.

Events:

Day 1: Basically, karina helped her aunt take care of her niece (2 years old) and nephew (7 months).

Day 2: The family woke up early and went to Pangandaran Beach by three cars.

Day 3: Karina was fasting and very tired. Many family members felt weak or got sick, so they just rested.

Day 4: She babysat her niece and nephew again, teaching them simple lessons while also preparing for her school’s second semester.

Day 5: Karina spent the day watching YouTube, using Instagram, chatting with friends, and sleeping.

Reorientation:

At the endd, she stated that her holiday with her big family was very enjoyable and memorable. Even though some days were boring or tiring, she had many fun experiences. She loved spending time with her family and would never forget it.

Dialogue make the story more engaging:

It makes the reader gets the perspective from the author's perspective to illustrate it.

1. The orientation part of the first text is from the first line until the third line. The sequence of events is seen in all the text starting from the 4th line "the first day...." until the fifth day where she doesn't do anything. After that paragraph it gets back to re orientation part.

2. She uses some time connectives such as first,after that, after we played, and using the number of day in order like in the first day, in the second day, and goes on.

2. This emotional language can help us(reader) to feel the way she feels at the time. This emotional language help us relate to situation from the writer POV.

In this recount text, we learn that the orientation is shown in paragraphs one through three, which tell about her family and their recent vacation. The events section shows their activities from the first day to the last. We can see the reorientation when the author writes about her feelings after the vacation, which is in the final paragraph.

The reorientation part of this story can be seen from the last paragraph of the text. She shared her reflection and her feelings throughout the holiday.

Second Text

Highlight emotional language:

• I was SO excited

• I waited excitedly and finally the day arrived! 

• What an amazing contribution to Maths Education in Australia!

• My 5 year old son was mesmerised by the Galton Board and my 7 year old daughter loved writing her name using Braille.

• If you are in the area, I HIGHLY recommend you pop in and if your school is local- it would be such a wonderful location for an excursion, particularly for Year ⅚ students.

How does dialogue and emotional language make the story more engaging?

In this text, the writer shared her story with a lot of emotional language, such as excited, amazing, mesmerised, and the use of capitals which emphasizes her feelings,  that left an exciting impression of  the writer’s story and made the story more engaging for the readers to read.

In the other hand, the writer of the 2nd text implied more emotional reactions more than the writer of the 1st text. For example, the way the 2nd writer used more uppercased letters to indicate that she was excited. She also puts an interactive dialogues on her text to clearly describe the dialogue actors. "how far is it from here? You have to go there…you will love it!”. shows her husband's enthusiasm.

Emotional language = I was very excited to have Cal sign the book for me, and he was gracious enough to pose for a photo (see below)! . this sentence seems bring us to what they do in that day.

Dialogue make the story more engaging. it seems like it will bring us to their story more deeper. for example, "mum do you and dad know where we are?" seems we are the mum and we have to answer it.

Reader will become engaged with the text because the use of informal word used in a day and how the reader can also feel the excitement of the writer that make reader want to have the same experience by traveling to where the writer spend the time or what the readers do. the reader felt more like friends or close person to the writer because the dialogue and the use of emotional languange from the writer instead of formal word such like article or journal.

- We can illustrate or describe our data effectively if we use correct chart choices, minimum grammar error, does not put our personal opinion and a good paraphrasing.

- The challenges i faced is that the number of responders for my survey does not meet the minimum requirements for the task. But at the end i have decided to do the survey orally to make it faster rather than waiting for a response from my online form.
