Chapter 8 - The phony

After Holden leaves pencey, he makes his way to the train station: but the cold brought pain towards his nose as to where old Stradlater struck it. Once Holden got onto the train, this woman he had never met before sat with him; and to her surprise she noticed that Holden went to Pencey. At this point Holden is feeling humorous, as he spits straight unrealistic facts about this ladies son who is a school idiot “Ernest Morrow “. He gets a couple of laughs as this woman spills embarrassing secrets about him. At this point i know that holden was getting “horny” by this women as he sees the way she looks at him, and attempts to offer a cocktail, but the age difference interfered,

Chapter 9 - Loneliness

When Holden gets off the train station he stops by a payphone and tries to call everyone he could think about but he couldnt because he was too afraid of who would answer. He later gets in a cab and is uncomfortable, his taxi driver was this moron, who answers like he's pissed off, so Holden holds back any questions towards the man. When entering the Edmont Hotel you get this vibe that its weird, because it sometimes could be full with perverts, and wish disgusted holden. His room was not much better as it was old, and kinda had some stains. At this point he feels lonely again, so he calls up this girl he met once with one of his old buddies “ Faith Cavendish”. Now you can tell this guy felt “Turned On” as he tries to convince her to come over. He is desperate at this point to have sexual relationships with someone, and having a cocktail. Oh everytime he wants a cocktail, he is feeling lonely, because the only other times he wants a cocktail, He doesn't want to go alone and invites the person that is around him.

Memorable Quote- "In my mind, I'm probably the biggest sex maniac you ever saw. Sometimes I can think of very crumby stuff I wouldn't mind doing if the opportunity came up."

Chapter 10 - desperation/loneliness

A while foes by after the sexual call he had with the “faith cavendish” and Holden is feeling a bit lonely, I can tell that this is true because he starts to remember his little sister phoebe, and gives very descriptive details on how’s she’s bossy or a sweet little girl. He wanted to call her but he knew his parents would pick up. But despite being lonely, he went to the lavender room, which is a bar with a dance floor, a night club. Anyways in this whole entire part he gets annoyed, because the bartender is asking for his age. Which offends Holden, these girls sitting across from him are giggling at him, he then takes on our to dance. But she didn’t even pay attention to him, and no matter how hard he tried to talk to Bernice krebs , she didn’t even care. After that he sat at their table and took all 3 out to dance but got the same result, the lavender room closed and he was still annoyed because he didn’t get to make the girls stay and they made him pay for the drinks.

My Prediction

I believe that since Holden is feeling lonely and is being some what rejected, i think that he is going to try to take the easy way and hire someone to have sexual relations with him. He could just hire anyone of that "Faith Cavendish" girl would call him back and would accept a cocktail. What i also believe will happen is that he finally has the guts to call phoebe and if his parents answer then just not tell them about the grades and make them pass the phone to his sister.
