In order to have a strong federal government, the government would need to tax since it need funds to function. The federal government uses taxes to protect us with a strong military.

We should trust the federal government to have power over the states in cases where the powers are unclear. The government is so trustworthy, that their laws must have supremacy over the states. If we have more governments, we will fall to petty squabbling.
