Border/Boundary Dispute between China, India, and Japan

Japan's foreign minister believed that a portion between the countries of China and India belonged only to India. The minister Fumio Kishida traveled to New Delhi on Saturday, saying the town lying on the border, Arunachel Pradesh belonged to India. Japanese sources have backed out and promise not to get into the business of China and India. The Japanese want the dispute to be worked out peacefully.

-This event takes place in China, Japan, and India. With a region they are fighting over called South Tibet.

-China is a fairly developed country. Japan is a very devloped country. India is developing, but is still struck with lots of poverty in most of its towns.

-This event relates to this unit because political geography is a branch of geography dealing with the human governments with human rights, boundaries, and divisions of political units in the country. There are border disputes when the people of the nation believe that a certain part of the disputed country belong to them. The government has to inform the people which parts are theirs, and make negotiations peacefully to avoid tension with other countries. These processes can cause wars or terrorism inside the country.

Government - President Obama's State of The Union Speech

President Obama addressed Congress with his hopes of becoming a more equal country. He pointed out all of the previous democratic ideas of tax rises, free college tuition, and government spending. Obama pointed out the mistakes he made during his presidency in order to make himself look better. He takes credit for saving the recession, and also explains to Congress the military actions he will be taking. He spoke of the relations he would make with other countries including Russia. All of the speech was a checklist of things to be done before the next election.

-This event takes place in the Capital building in Washington, DC, United States. All of congress, along with countless photographers, and dozens of high government officials.

-The United States is the most developed country on Earth. We have a solid system of government along with a strong economy. This country has the best political officials in the entire world. Also, it has the most powerful military.

-This event relates to political geography because it is the processes that are going on inside of the country with the government and the people. President Obama talks about the sovereignty of the people, and how they should all have their basic rights as stated in the constitution. States rights are an important factor to political geography because they control the government of that state, setting their own laws, along with different kids of taxes and restrictions of certain things.

Supranational Organizations - UN

The United Nations entered Central African Republic to settle the civil war over religions in this area, which is highly populated with Christians. Also, the government is taking away basic rights, killing innocent citizens, denying security for the thousands affected by worsening conditions in the country. The UN Security Council has targeted the individuals they think are capable of destroying peace and stability of the country. A travel ban and arms embargo have been established for all the member countries against Central African Republic. War crimes are being investigated, with the highest profile arrest Rodrigue, Nagaibona, the leader of the Anti-Balaka militia. CAR is under further investigation and could be highly dangerous to its surrounding countries.

-This event consists of dozens of United Nations representatives in the Central African Republic due to violence broken out in the country. UN meetings have been held in New York City, USA in the UN Headquarters.

-The Central African Republic is an undeveloped country in the dead center of Africa. It is a landlocked state so it makes it hard to get things imported into the country because of the tariffs to get through the surrounding states. It does not have a strong economy or government. It is surrounded by war torn countries, making it even harder to become developed.

-This event links itself to political geography because it is talking about what is happening inside of a nation. It isn't talking where people are moving to or where they are in the country but the issues involving freedom, equality, and terrorism inside the country. Also, CAR is a landlocked state, which creates political barriers between the surrounding nations. It is talking about the processes supranational organizations must execute in order to maintain peaceful relations.
