Depression is a common and serious mental illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think, and how you act. The main causes of depression are if you were physically or mentally abused in the past or present, your age, if you are older you are more likely to be depressed, a medication you may be taking, a death in the family or one of your friends, conflicts with others, genes in the family, or your gender, because women are more likely to be depressed than men.

Symptoms of depression could be apathy, anxiety, loss of interest, or hopelessness.

Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a chronic disorder that affects someone’s ability to think, feel, and behave clearly. Causes include genetic makeup, exposure to toxins/drugs, viral infections, highly stressful situations, or brain chemistry.

Symptoms could be disorganized behavior, delusion, paranoia, hallucinations, and aggression.

Anxiety Disorder

Anxiety disorders have genetic and environmental factors. The risk factors for each type of anxiety disorder vary. However, some general risk factors include shyness, feeling distressed, or feeling nervous in new situations or childhood.

Symptoms include feeling restless, difficulty sleeping or concentrating, or tense muscle tissue.
