Because the US is the only remaining industrialized nation with no formal commitment to going metric, international trade becomes an obstacle due to unit conversions. US manufacturers often have to make two versions of their products: one for the US with customary units and one for the rest of the world with SI units.

    3. For most people, familiarizing themselves with only the units gram, liter and meter will suffice. In fact, all of the SI units are derived from merely seven base units. Of course, there are different prefixes and suffixes added to different units to represent the different powers of 10, but conversions are as easy as moving the decimal point left and right.

The change would also impact housing and lot sizes, the measurement of temperatures with the new use of Celsius, and the change of mileage and speed signs.

    -If we switch to the metric system right now it could cause some future problems like messing up orders on many things that could be super expensive. 


    -Personal business would have a challenge in switching to the metric system.

    Another disadvantage would be that it's not well suited for working with fractions and you'd have to learn it all and it'd get tiring instead of already knowing it, then you can just whip it out and be like "Yep, k already knew this because we switched to the metric system dude."
