When I was born in 1980, Czechoslovakia was still communist. Children would learn Russian at school and we would march into the streets to celebrate May 1st, proudly holding and waving Russian and Czecholovak flag. People used to queue to buy bananas and mandarins and well we didn't spend money on brands, as there were none.

Hello everyone,
I was born in 1981, in Barcelona, Spain. That was quite an interesting time in my country’s history. Spain was still adapting to democracy, since the dictatorship of Franco had ended only a few years earlier, in 1975.

In 1981, one of the most important events was the attempted coup d’état, known as “El 23-F”, when some members of the military tried to take control of the government. Fortunately, it failed, and it helped to strengthen democracy in Spain. So, being born in 1981 means I come from a period of great change and hope in Spain’s modern history.

When I was born, in 1995, life was very different from today.
The Internet was just starting to appear, and very few people had a computer at home. Mobile phones were big and only used for calls or text messages. People usually watched movies on VHS tapes and listened to music on CDs or the radio.

A very important event in 1995 was the release of Windows 95 and the first Toy Story movie. It was a time when technology was just starting to change the world.

We used to buy magazines at the kiosks, collect trading cards or bracelets with figures. Furthermore, children spent the whole day watching Disney Channel or movies like Harry Potter, Ice Age and Spider-Man, because those were very popular at the time. I was born in Barcelona in 1975, a year that marked a pivotal moment in Spanish history. My birth occurred in a politically charged atmosphere, as I arrived just five days before the official death of General Franco. In fact, my parents have told me that although the announcement came after I was born, it was widely rumored that he had already passed away. This meant I was born right on the cusp of a monumental change, the end of a nearly forty-year dictatorship, and the beginning of Spain's transition to democracy.

From what I've been told, daily life was quite different. Society was still very conservative.

Technology was simple, almost unimaginable by today's standards. There were no personal computers, mobile phones, or internet.

For my family, like many others, it was a time defined by hope for a more open and free society.

In 2006, several innovations started to appear on digital platforms. YouTube, Facebook and Wikipedia grew in popularity, and many people started to use it. Moreover, the internet revolution expanded, and wifi and internet connections started yo develop during this year.

Not only the world of mobile phones experienced some modifications, but also the digital content started to increase at 2006, with memes, pictures and videos with integrated music.

In fact, one of the most remarkable scientific achievements was the discovery of evidence of water on Mars by NASA. At the same time, technology also advanced quickly. For example, it was the year when Facebook was created, marking the beginning of a new era of social media and online communication. Moreover, Google introduced Gmail, offering much more storage than other email services at the time, and making communication easier around the world.

I was born in 2009. If I compare that time with childhood today, I don't think it has been as drastic a change as there was 50 years ago. The main changes that have taken place since I was born are the new digital advances, specially now with the AI.

In 2009 the AI was just starting, it was only used in academic sector or specialized places, people didn't have acces. These year, the first virtual agents made with AI were introdiuced to the market.

Nowadays, everyone uses artificial intelligence, for difetent things like for work or to solve everyday problems. We use it more and more, this can have pros and cons depending on how we use it.

When I was a kid in 2009, life in Mexico felt simpler. We still watched cartoons on TV instead of streaming them, and everyone had a flip phone or a little MP3 player full of reggaetón and pop songs. At school we’d cover our notebooks with stickers, trade Silly Bands, and wait all week for recess to play soccer or tag. On weekends, families went to the tianguis to buy DVDs, tacos, and pirated video games. Facebook was starting to replace Hi5, and we’d spend hours changing our profile songs and posting memes. Nobody talked about influencers. The coolest person was whoever had internet at home that didn’t cut out.

Year of Olympics in Atlanta, there were great moments, boxing legend Muhammad Ali carried the Olympic torch, Michael Johnson achieved a historic milestone 2 Olympic gold medals in 200m and 400m, world record and Olympic record.

The best moment of the year 96 was the 6th ring of the Chicago Bulls, considered the best team in NBA history.

Michael Jordan led this great team, made the decisive basket getting the victory and conserating himself as the GOAT.

That was the last year that Michael wore the bulls shirt, years later his documentary would premiere on Netflix.
