They are being taught what others "think" they need to learn. Something that stood out to me was that they lack work ethic. In the reading it says that these children DO work at such a young age so it's something that they have. I have seen this with my own eyes as well. I grew up in a low-income family and my parents grew up in poverty and very poor. They started working at such a young age around 7. We go back to their country and see these kids living in poverty. I can say that these children do not lack work ethic. The truth is that parents do care about their children. It's crazy to see that schools see parents this way and also recommend parents to take courses on parenting. As much as this can be seen as not true, it is. In the microsystem, the child is influenced and impacted by their school, peers, family, and church. The child is surrounded by these in their everyday lives. The school could be making these assumptions on these children and that will impact the way they learn. The children were asked to raise their hands when they were asked if their homework consisted of a computer and internet. They all raised their hands. Children can't do their homework if they don't have a computer and that impact their school performance. Their grades go down for not doing it, and they don't get that extra practice on the material.
