The Bolsheviks, led by Vladimir Lenin, promised peace, food, land. Many people gained hope and supported this movement. The Bolsheviks seized power in November 1917. Although Lenin has rose to power, people did not accept his rule and a civil war broke out after. </div>]]></description>

This new legislative assembly was meant to give more representation to the Russian people but it had limited powers. The voting rules avoided the Tsar's opponents to be elected as members and it could not change Russian policies. People were still not satisfied with it. </div>]]></description>

People started to form ideas of the working class controlling the government and equal rights for everyone. An important figure was Karl Marx who wrote the "Communist Manifesto". This spread the idea that the working class would eventually take over the government and equally distribute the land to the rest of the citizens. </div>]]></description>
