When Tory Lanez was just 11 years old his mom was diagnosed with a rare ill disease that only affects every four in one million people.
His mother later passed away and his father started working as a minister and missionary causing the two to move around the US.
His father was later remarried and moved to Atlanta Georgia where Tory met Hakeem who was a janitor at the time. Hakeem gave Tory the nickname "Lanez"
In 2006 because of his behavior issues he was sent to live with his cousin,Dahir Abib, Orane Forrest, in Jamaica, a neighborhood in Queens, New York. He was then forced to live in Toronto with his grandmother, she then refused to take care of him so he was on his own from age 15.
While being on his own he moved downtown with three dudes who he really didn't know. From 15-18 they grew up all fighting with each other which Tory said made him a man because he would have to fend for himself.
In 2009 is when he started his music career and came up with the name Tory coming from the Notorious B.I.G who he idolized.
August 8th, 2023, Tory was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in her foot at a party July 2020.

Tory Lanez inspires me because of the things he says in his songs. By this I mean he talks about pretty much how to not get too caught up in love. He is a little toxic yes, I'll admit that BUT his music sounds so good. His music is also so real and relatable. Tory Lanez is especially a good music artist to listen to in the summer, his songs always make me hype.
